Default Weird issue with trolling motor

It is a 5-6 yrs old but lightly used Minn Kota Riptide. I believe it is 70 lb. I'm not near it right now but just thought to ask here. It is wired to 2 batteries and uses all 24 volts in reverse but only 12 in forward. I have checked the connection 1/2 dozen times and it is wired correctly.
Is there something that I am missing? I am far from an expert with trolling motors. (or anything else for that matter)
Thanks, Granpa

How do you know it's only using 12v in forward?

I should have used different terms. Only getting half the power in forward. Pure guess on my part about the V.

Could the prop be mounted wrong? Or wrong polarity?
Forward = Reverse and Reverse = Forward?

Here's what I just experienced today. I don't know if this will help but it seems fitting. I have a 24 volt trolling motor twoDual Purpose batteries when I first hooked them up and tested the voltage it read 24( actually shy of 24 if i remember correctly) volts to the trolling motor receptacle. I ran it for a little bit and it never seemed full strength.
today I took my batteries off the boat because I suspected something was wrong and one of them is good and the other one is a bad battery its shot and so entire time it was performing like it was running on 12 volts being a 24 volt trolling motor so maybe it's just one of your battery is bad but this doesn't explain why it goes Full Throttle in reverse on your trolling motor

Smeden- Prop only mounts one way. As far as polarity, I've never done any work on it that would allow for that to happen.
fishua- As I said, I've checked the battery set up numerous times (the definition of insanity) they were bought at the same time and still take a full charge. I've been charging them separately recently just to make sure.
