Has it even been made? Today I was killing time surfing Craigslist, and came across a 26' CC that was diesel powered. What models/builders might have offered something like this in a 22/23'?

Edgewater built a 230d. 228cc with closed transom, volvo ocean x drive, volve d3. It got better fuel economy at cruise and still ran 40mph. Lots of data online on that boat. Was a killer dive boat. I sat on it during miami show a few years ago. Lots of interest but no buyers. Boat finally sold in France or something like that. The day of delivery i got a call the boat was full of water. I asked it they put the plug in. They didnt know the boat had a blug.....broke my heart. I had blood sweat and tears in that thing.

Albin made some too. Before something sounds like a too good idea and you muse why that has been done, but not very often... there might be a good reason. In this case loss of interior space and cost would be two hints.

Composite yacht makes a 26 cc that you can get a diesel in.

The 22' Edgewater has already been mentioned, although I don't know how many were ever made. Back in the 90's, Luhrs offered an inboard 25' model with either single gas or diesel or twin gas or diesel. They pop up for sale every once in a while, but I think the single engine version may be the rarer of the two.

I did find a few longer Shamrocks, I think in the upper 20' range. We're in the process of ordering a new 22' CC that we'll use quite often, but maybe I'll find a project 26-29 and restore it over the next couple of years as something to do (I don't need the lectures, I already know its a money pit). I'd love to have something that is a tank to go deep offshore but still towable by a half ton and something not like the 22 we're ordering.

Plenty of small boats with Diesel engines, down to tiny skiffs. Search for "Atkin Rescue Minor". 19' by 5'8"' 6 inch draft at rest & while running. Most that are built today use a small Diesel engine, and get over 20 mpg at planing speed! Lots of recent custom builds of this boat...plans were first drawn in the 1940's, I think.

Big time niche market.
A 22-23' boat with a small diesel would be very expensive to build. And in the end, you'd still have a slow boat (comparatively) with less interior room than every other 22-23 on the market.
These primary factors have alot to do with the ultimate demise of Shamrock.
