RightRigger I would love to know the true story. I can't believe someone on the THT doesn't know the whole story. If insurance paid out and there is no litigation don't know why the story can't be told .

Looks like www.cooperss.com has sold the boat! Can't wait to see it running 46 knots in a photo somewhere.

Staff from the Fajardo United Maritime Unit of the United States of Quick Action rescued the crew. (Supplied)
Initially, the Uniformada indicated that the boat had sunk, but later it was clarified that it was transported to safe port.
A cruising yacht crashed into a reef early today, Thursday, two miles north of Cabeza de Perro in Ceiba during a test trip, police said.

The three crew members were rescued unharmed by Fajardo United United States Marine Corps personnel (FURA).
Christopher John Blanchard, 51, who was the operator of the boat, Jospeh D. Spencer, 23, and Sean Phillip Alonso, 52, were transported to the unit in good health.
The Delaware-registered vessel, owned by Afunday Charter Inc., was towed to the Puerto del Rey Marina in Fajardo before it sank, according to data provided by FURA.

Looks like the kind of temporary repairs you would do so it can be splashed and towed.

I bet they found a yard somewhere else to do the actual repairs.
The government sticker on the door was probably put there when it was first recovered.

If my info is correct, the boat will be coming to Worton Creek Marina in the Chesapeake Bay! Temporary repairs are being made so the boat may be shipped to Baltimore, off loaded and towed to the marina across the bay. Gotta hurry and get this done before the bay might freeze. Worton Creek has a neat business of refurbishing Bertram 31's and is the owner of Post Yachts and all their molds etc. How about them apples!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to the Worton Creek website and read the newsletter.
