Got the transom in place and glassed the first three plays on the hull sides. Definitely makes it bigger! I am straightening the sheer from a point 5’5” forward of the old transom location. That keeps the distance from the chine to the cap 38”.

Looking good. I saw where Bills was adding a door to the side on the SeaCraft stretch. Any thoughts of doing the same?

Daytrip:

Really looking forward to following this build. I was wondering if maybe this build deserves it's own build thread? You're so early in the process you could start a whole new thread without having to double post too much.

Just a thought.

It does need its own thread. I posted from day one on bateau site.

Where are you planning on having the console in the new one? Further back, same as before, where? Curious as to the cog aspect of the stretch.

I will slide the console back 30” on this one. Lot more fuel as well. Probably weight in the keelaft of the console. If you know the 28 layout the new console will start where the forward engine bulkhead is. On my current 28 that is where the front of the seat is. It will give me another 18” in the cockpit because I am making the seat 6” bigger.

Hey picknasty. Same basic layout. Some slight revision but not a lot. I like my current boat a lot.

Same technique. The mold is more or less a one off. This one is 12” wider to provide more floatation

I did did start a dedicated thread called “28 Bertram stretch”

Hey Jim, I love your technique and its obvious you can see it all in your head before you start. Are those 2x4s used in all your projects?

Well in my head and on autocad. My early days as a engineer doing structural engineering/ Design helps. Yep. 2x4s. The critical ones are run through a joiner

So, just curious if the 28 is for sale and what it takes to buy it if so?

No not for sale yet. Will be at some point. Not sure what it would even get to be honest.
