Default Battery Box

I have a homemade battery box for my TM liquid batteries. Got tired trying to service them in my center console and moved them under my leaning post. My question is should I drill holes in the bottom of the box to let the battery acid that boils over to drain onto the deck of my boat or try to contain it in the box. The batteries fit pretty snug in the box with a 1/4" plastic spacer separating them.
