Default Need unbiased opinions of a boat name

Hi All,

I have a 2000 34 foot Monterey Sport Cruiser and I'm thinking of naming her:

Opulence

I'd like some unbiased opinions on this name, before making it official.

Thank for your feedback.

Its not a bad name. I had to look the definition up myself. In the end, it is your boat and you have to go with what makes you happy and not what others think.

If that's what you like, go for it. Frankly, to me a little over the top.

First thing that came to my mind was "cocky, pretentious". I mean that respectfully and honestly.

Don't love it, don't hate it. It's easy to say which is important in a boat name. I have to admit I had to Google the definition, but I'm not the most well read guy on here so take it for what it's worth.

I kind of feel like a word that means "great wealth or luxuriousness" should be on a yacht.

Or on a crappy little row boat as a joke.

Same here... I mean it in a helpful way... not in a DB way.

I could see that name on a boat owned by Donald Trump.

For me, I would only use in on a crappy POS as a joke.

If I were to guess...

Thurston Howell III would have loved that name...
For those that are to young to know who Thurston Howell the 3rd is... Rich Arrogant guy on Gilligans Island, his wife was Lovey...

Somedays, I crack myself up...

I think Opulence is a great name. My boat is called Fancy Pants. We can raft up and party if you like.

It could go either way. I would think pretentious. But then again I just picked up a small bow rider and named it "Just the Tip"

If I saw that name on anything less than a 100ft superyacht, I would think the owner was maybe a little deluded. If I saw it on said 100ft Superyacht I would think the owner was sneering down his nose at all the other boats.

As someone else said, the only way it would work would be in a funny way, on a tatty looking 13ft boat or similar.

Sorry - you asked for an honest opinion.

Hey great feedback everyone...I can totally see how it could sound arrogant (which I am not, at least I don't think so lol) and yup I could certainly see that name on a mega yacht, maybe I can afford one some day.

I included a picture here, forgot to do so in my initial post.

Anyway bottom line is I haven't been able to come up with a name, so she's been nameless since I got her 2 years ago.

My wife liked Sweet Dreams which, I'm sure is well used, and I'm looking for something original!

Opulence = Look at me, I have a lot of disposable income to spend on a boat.
