Opulence, for a 30 something production anything? Uh...No. Don't think so. It is a floating Chevy Impala. Sorry.

Now, if it were for a 134' boat, that is another matter.

Have a friend who named his 30' Mainship "Phenomenon". It is a MAIN SHIP!!!!!!! There are hundreds of them.

The name should mean something specific to you. Doesn't matter what others think about it. It's better if you have to explain it.

For example: I have called my wife "Stick" since the day I met her. When we got the boat, she said, "Well, if he's not at home, he'll be on the boat. At least that's my only competition".

Hence the name..."Stick's Competition"
Great name.

it has a great little ring to it....youre (you're) the only one who has to like it....just be prepared for unintended consequences....
Wouldn't that be a conundrum?

Conundrum..... now that a good boat name.

"Opulence" on that boat just seems like a very unfortunate & irresistible invitation for a servicing boatyard/marina/ tech, etc., to lay waste to your available credit.
In case the opulence runs low, you could just call it "BOB".

I think "Radio Check" would be a great name! Here on the Chesapeake it would drive the pier sitters crazy who love to listen to 16 and tell people "No Radio checks on 16."

Thank for your feedback.
I'm sure you feel super rich with joy and possibly friendships, but I agree with the other fellas not on a 2000..... Just being honest.

I'm a fan of names that have reason behind them. Like a few have already said you can make it to do with your job or kids. I'll use myself as an example. Boats name is WhiteBoy. My last name is White. My brothers and I were always called the white boys by people who know us. My dad and his brother were called the same. So after a few months of trying to come up with a name my dad (i think) said lets just name it WhiteBoy.

I use the same logic based on "Pet Names" & "Nicknames" my parents and our friends at school called my brother and I. Between the two of us we have a few boats we named them:

Jerk Off
Idiot
Dick Weed
Useless
WTF is Wrong With You

The name "Opulence" would only work on a truly fancy boat or a run down jon boat. Just doesn't work in the middle grounds IMHO.

Since its taken you two years to name the boat I plugged "procrastinate" into thesaurus.com and immediately noticed "Shilly-Shally" listed as a synonym option.

So...there ya go..."Shilly-Shally".

You're welcome. *lol*

ha ha....I didn't realize THT had such promising comedians as members, some of your responses are hilarious.

Anyway, thanks again for all your feedback.

Since it officially the first day of spring here in Toronto, Canada today, I'll wish you all, who had to lay up for the winter, a great upcoming boating season!!

You know I've noticed that most boaters, and specifically anglers, have developed a gift for smack talking or griefing their crews or fellow anglers.

THT is an extension of that...heh...

In light of this "new" information, I think you could name the boat "Nice Eh"

I've always thought that a boat's name is a reflection of yourself, and what drove you to use/buy the boat. If you waited two years to buy a boat, there had to be a reason why you purchases this one, and why you wanted to call it Opulence. If, for you, your incarnation of being financially well off is embodied by this boat, then it is a great name, but I would make it slightly more personal to remove the casual observer from thinking you are full of yourself.

What about Opulent Dreams or Dreamed Opulence? Basically, something that explains that this boat is the culmination of your years of hard work and savings (which is about to go away because B.O.A.T).

Btw, I've always liked funny names to remind myself not to take life on the water too seriously (better day fishing than working sort of thing).

Example of boat names I've used:
11' Jon Boat- CrappieBass Boat
12' Alumacraft Boat- Perch'd Above Us
12.5' West Marine Zodiac- Patch'd Up

Good luck in your search!

Call it what you want if you don't care what others might think. Call it something else if you do.

Opulaint

Now, obviously this represents word play with something that is now not a word at all......ie: "it ain't opulent". Folks would have to think about it before getting the joke.

However, based on the earlier posts- there seems to be many folks possessing a more limited vocabulary wherein this little pun would not work at all- in that you are required to understand the first word to enjoy the second.

So obviously it will depend on where you plan to boat and the general education level of that locale. You'd be fine in say Annapolis, San Francisco, or Connecticut. New Jersey is iffy and forget about anything south of Maryland.

If the word sarcasm is not in your lexicon you could be offended. Standing by.
