Default Freeman 34VH

I was not much of a cat lover till I rode in the 34VH. Prior to my Freeman sea trial I tested out several of the other cats on the market. I can honestly say that if they gave them to me for free I would turn around and sell them all the following day. I currently own an Everglades and swore I would never buy another brand. As I sit here today I am eating my words and getting ready to put down my deposit on the 34VH. Truth be told the 34VH is bigger and more expensive than I need but the awesome ride and performance of this boat has pushed me into uncharted waters.

When we sea trialed the 34VH we had seven guys on board with live well full and a cooler full of beer and ice. Billy mentioned that we had about 160 gallons of fuel so I would say we had a medium load. At WOT I recall looking at the GPS speed and we were right at about 61.8 mph. I also recall looking at the gauges somewhere between 46 mph and noticed our MPG was somewhere around 26-28 GPH. This puts the 34VH somewhere around 1.6 which given the load and size of this hull is remarkable to say the least. BTW this was with a pair of F300's.

All and all the 34VH feels like a much larger MH but yet performs like a smaller sportier size hull. Performance numbers kill all other boats of even smaller sizes. I looked at most 29' MH and none of them come close to the efficiency of the Freeman cats. My hats off to Billy and his crew for designing an almost perfect boat.

Hope to start my build thread 21 months from now. I know its a long time but know it will be well worth the wait.

Albert

Ha, I know I have seen that video at Brian's house at least 25 times. He's on his second Freeman now.

Damn! Fell in love with this boat from the first photos, you guys did a great job! There is one caveat: I work as an upholstery technician, I would advise you to choose a slightly different material, such as some waterproof fabric, and not just leather.

It is vinyl, not leather.

about waterproof covering, it's a great idea. I use Ottertex Canvas waterproof fabric and happy with it. Sometimes you have to clean the upholstery, but everyone does it. If you are too lazy you can use the services of professionals.

Awesome beyond belief!!! I just wish Freeman would make an entry level cat like a 22. No bells or whistles just straight up fishing, no damn cup holders, no cushions on every surface, no fancy cleats, no side gunnel rod holders that nobody uses or where the mop brush is, Just fishing only!!!

you dont drink anything while while on the water? Have fun with dehydration. You don’t like a cushion for your butt? And saying no one used side rod holders is ignorant at best, because they come in really damn handy for a lot of things. All of those things are, if not essential for fishing, make it a whole lot easier.

If if you want a bare bones 22 there are plenty of options out there.

Cool video. I would love to see a same size v-hull side by side with the Freeman in those same conditions. What a fine boat and great American success story.
