Default Are you a Dog owner?

Dogs and boats seem to go together quite well so I wanted to just post a quick poll to see how many of you are dog owners.

not I......barely enough time to use the boat, let along walk a dog, pick up dookies...etc.

Had one as a kid and loved it, but lived on 400 acres and could let her out in the morning and in when I got home..... Unless or until I buy a place like that again some day, no way.

Completely valid. I think it's way better that people know whether it will work for their lifestyle and say no instead of getting one that ends up being left alone all the time. Or worse.

I have 3 -- Two Great Danes and a Hound Mix. The Danes have no use for the water and the hound girl can't get enough.

Is there a way to edit the poll to add options?

We don't own a dog and never have. I like them but the wife does not. IMHO, a boat is NOT the perfect place for a dog.

90% of the hours on our boat come from fishing trips - that is no place for a dog. Without asking, a fried showed up with his dog. When fish came on board, the dog would go nuts. Slimy deck + thrashing fish + multiple treble hooks + over-excited dog = potential bad situation.

"No Dog" rule now for everyone that comes on board.

If you are offshore for long periods good rule. However in our house we do trips the dog fits in on perfectly.

I don't. My gf has a boxer/pit mix though. I love the dog and its enough for me to not have the desire to have my own.

Based on the Poll results it sure looks like boat owners love their dogs.
And probably wouldn't be upset with a name change.

I love my dogs (all are rescues, btw) and they love me. Life is better when seen thru the eyes of your dog(s).

I couldn't agree more. I also think that children who grow up around animals develop empathy for others and become better adults.

I have an Airedale, and my gf has two - a 14 yr old hound on her last legs, and a Kelpie which is an amazing agility dog.
