I grew up with 3 GSP's, two being rescue's, one passed about 10 years ago, one passed about 3 weeks ago, and my parents still have a 12 year old. All of them loved water. The oldest one wasn't a big fan of a boat tho.

My wife and I adopted this puppy (Daisy) at the beginning of the summer from the animal shelter. Not really sure what she is, I'm thinking part GSP, part beagle, part cattle dog, part pit. I had her out on the boat since she was 10 weeks, she's 6 months old now.

No but the GF has two little Chihuaha's. Cute enough, playful enough but when they leave this earth we probably will not get another one. Lifestyle is just not conducive to a dog.

1 Greyhound and 2 whippets currently.

I bring dogs on the boat when hitting the sand bar. It's like a dog / people party down there.

Photo of my poodle looking for fish last month. Always have the dog on the boat. Took labs across oceans, to Alaska over 80,000 miles of cruising.

I commend you sir for recognizing that and not forcing getting a dog just to leave uncared for or to just give it up later.

I have a 4.5 lbs long hair Chihuahua. She is still a little uncertain about being on the boat, but I'm trying. But I agree with the others, I would never take her fishing. She is only on board when the wife and I are hanging around and spending the night.

Here are our little bundles. Little one is Sadie and the big one is Happy. We didn't name either dog and thought Happy was a strange dog name but it fits here to a T.

We have Toby- an Australian Shepard leopard mix, about 36lbs, got him as a rescue 5 years ago.
He doesn't like the boat much, always the first to want to jump off when we return to the dock so we only take him out for short rides on cooler days.

I recall years ago reading- if you break down and have a choice- wave down a boat with a dog on it as dog people are generally nicer

I had a kelpie that was a rescue dog, man I miss flapjack... Both great boat dogs, Max the husky has been out 50+ miles tuna fishing solo with me, he looked good covered in blood...

A beagle mix and terrier mix...once I get down to one I will keep it there. I will always have a dog-you don't know unconditional love until you do.
