I tried search bar with no luck...
Does anyone have a link to such info?
Looking at a 09 evinrude etec 175, ex fishing guide boat with 1000 hours... Still life left in the motor or not?

could be fine, could end up having issues. tough to say. it would need to be priced right regardless. I know there are guys with a couple thousand hours on them .

Thanks Jeff.
After changing my search words around I started seeing the "battles/debates" about these motors. I see it's a pretty sore subject.
Regardless the motor, I have mixed feelings about a ex commercial fishing rig. I would like to think the captain took exceptionally good care of motor and maintenance. On the other hand, I can't help but think of the abuse our machines and equipment receives in my profession... That's me personally knowing the care and maintenance I put back into it.
We will see... Its the ideal hull I'm looking at so...
Will keep ya posted, thanks!

I would rather buy a well used and well cared for high hour engine than one that was never used. 1000 hours on these engines is not very much. I sold my last boat with twin 2005 E-Tec 250s. I had the engines for just under 6 years and put over 2500 hours on them. The engines ran as good as they did on day one.
1000 on a 2009 is roughly 200 hours a year. I would consider that a well used engine. Just have it looked over and get a tech to run the serial number to see it's history to determine if it was well taken care of.

i agree regardless of brand i would rather buy one that was used regularly than a couple weekends per year
