I've had several smaller boats in the past, but this is my first "real/big-to-me" boat...
Looking for something for bay/inshore fishing soaking shrimp or doing some trolling off the beach, and if I feel comfortable enough and learn enough, a offshore trip here and there... Even if it meant the "shortest" run to the wrecks which are roughly 10 miles or so.
I found a 2004 18' century with a 115 4 stroke yamaha for 12k.
(he claims 12k is his bottom dollar)
Is this a reasonable boat/deal?
Is going offshore feasible?
Everything works on the boat, going sunday to test drive and compression check..
Only negative, trailer needs some work and patching... The two cross beams of the trailer has a quarter size hole on the bottom. I'm confident I can weld a patch and replace all the hardware, bunks, and U-bolts...
whatcha think?
keep lookin, or make a offer?
btw, love the site, tons of good info!

looks like a nice solid boat. check all the hatches for moisture in the core, etc.
he's got the right sticker on the back of it so I think you're on the right track.
That'd get you 10 miles out, assuming the engine is reliable. Lower bow so you'd def want to do it on a smooth day!

That is a nice boat. The price seems fair. I would keep looking for one with a better trailer. There are a lot of nice boats out there for 12k. Look into Key West boats. I love mine.
