Prowler Catamaran 40--4-7-15 Mold Creation
I've been keeping this one quiet for a long time, but Bill finally decided to let the cat out of the bag. This is one big boat at 40' loa and 11-10 beam, my 31 fits very easily inside of it. It's designed from the bottom up, starting with a performance inspired bottom and working up. The goal is to have a very fast, big water capable fishing machine. Look for level decks and giant coffin boxes, multiple livewells, tons of storage and a huge console and ttop.

Here's a quote from Prowler's facebook:

Renaissance Prowler Announces
Long-Awaited 40 ft. Power Catamaran
for Sport Fishing Connoisseurs
(Miami, FL) Renaissance Prowler, LLC is pleased to announce the launch of the Prowler 40, the company’s most recent addition to the Prowler family of custom designed fishing catamarans. In final phase of testing and two years in design, the Prowler 40 redefines what a sport fishing cat can do, by combining superb speed and handling common to v bottoms, with the strength and stability only a Prowler catamaran can deliver.
Nearly 12 feet wide and 40 ft in length, the Prowler 40 is anticipated to weigh a mere 5000 lbs (hull weight), and will boast the latest construction materials and technologies on the market. Design features will include the next generation Prowler hull innovations that are optimized for speed and offshore turning capability, and will include a multi-stepped ventilated bottom, asymmetrical sponsons, and Kevlar reinforcements.
Known as an innovator in the industry, owner Bill Ratlieff, Jr. explains the inspiration behind his latest creation. “I wanted to build a fishing machine like nothing on the market, one that had it ALL - and I am incredibly pleased with her. The Prowler 40 has an aggressive profile, very sexy lines, and has been designed bottom up for both ride and maneuverability. No other vessel that size will do what it does. It’s truly revolutionary, and not for the faint of heart. It’s an off shore performance cat for those who want to fish and leave others in their wake. ”
Based on early testing, the Prowler 40 will top 60 mph powered with only two 350’s and will speed over the roughest seas effortlessly; preliminary results on gas economies are comparable to the Prowler line, proven to be one of the most efficient on the market.
The Prowler 40 will be available in late fall of 2014 in twin and quad engine packages, as a custom build only.

Here's what I know that I can tell you. Hull #1 will have quad 300s and is going to a THTer(not me). Hull #2 has twin 350s and is also going to a THTer(may or may not be me;) ) There are at least two others currently planned, one of which is getting twin 557s.

Testing has been done at 13,500-14,000#. Bill expects it to come in closer to 11,000# ready to fish, yet it still tops 60 with twin 350s.

One of the nice things is that with the asymmetrical sponsons, you can get the hull down between the fenders of the trailer, thus lowering the trailering height. I know my 31 is nearly 14' on the trailer and the 40, although it's a taller boat, will have a trailer height very similar to the 31.

Here's the pics I can post for now. These are pics of the running plug, so it's rough around the edges and there's no cap. I think the cap will add 3-4" to the height.

:o. That is crazy big sitting at the dock and running. Can't wait to see the final product!

Wow, profile looks great. I saw this thing three days ago in Miami and it truly is a beast. I was only able to see it in cramped quarters in the shop, looks great out there on the trailer.

this is one bad ass boat coming down the production line..... and its long overdue for us fishing types.

everyone seems to be copy of someone else's these days. Renaissance is original, ill give them that. and their boats are top of the line in fit and finish.

yeah baby! give us more

That's the first GOOD looking fishing cat I have ever seen!

Nice. Any idea what the quad engine options would be?

Teaser Too 07-28-2014 05:16 PM

I am not a cat guy but that hull looks sick!

Oh Reely! 07-28-2014 05:16 PM

What price ran he are they anticipating with quads

miamiartist 07-28-2014 05:18 PM

For once, it makes me glad i live in miami so i can be part of the action when this baby comes to market.
any idea when sea trials are starting on this monster machine????

MakoMyDay 07-28-2014 06:02 PM

He will rig any engines you want. First one is quad 300 yams. Verados, Suzuki also options. I'm unsure if quad 350s would be ok.

No pricing info yet. It sounds like he basically needs to build one before he gets a good handle on what his costs will be and go from there. Assuming his business model holds, he will be very competitive with the boats of similar size/build quality, perhaps slightly less.

There won't be any sea trials until after hull #1 is finished in the fall.

A pair of 7's would also be nice.

Tried to upload a video, but it came out horrible. Here it is for now. I'll mess with it and try to get it right.

I like the lines a lot!

Lazy Bones 07-28-2014 09:22 PM

Wow, looks great. Think that trips would be more attractive than a choice b/w twins and quads

Do you need a mustache to buy one? I mean like a big bushy magnum P.I. one?

Conch~Her 07-29-2014 12:22 AM

Wow good to see! Glad Prowler is stepping up to the plate, I hope its a home run... Competition is a wonderful thing!

However, why in the hell would anyone want quads when she´ll run 60´s with twin 350´s? I will never understand the concept of lugging around extra engines but oh well, sounds like she´ll be a winner with the level deck. Hope for massive livewells fed by seachest, heavily insulated fishboxes, a flat and level cap without a rolled edge and absurd amounts of storage.

Another Prowler
