Sort of. It won't be in the convention center, but will be in the water. That's when I'm going down. Let me know if you want to ride.

Hadn't been on this thread in a while, but was wondering where the boat will be at lauderdale?

Unfortunety she's still under construction. Fuel tanks had to be reconfigured, so they're back to the fab shop. Will be a few weeks still.

Finally the plug for the cap is finished. This part took weeks longer than anticipated. There are quite a few complex angles and keeping the lines straight as it was being faired was a significant challenge. Right now they're waxing the plug to prep for molding. Again, like the other parts, a part is built as a plug and then waxed. Gelcoat is sprayed on it, the fiberglass layered on top. When it all cures the wax allows you to separate the plug from the negative(mold) you just created. Then you scrap the plug and build an actual cap using the mold. Here's a pic of them waxing the plug for the cap. All told there will be six coats of wax before any gelcoat is shot. You can also see the flanges are in place.

Gelcoat sprayed on the plug. This red surface will ultimately be the inside of the mold.

Do they normally get rid of the plug once they have a good mold? Or do they keep it for make another mold when the original mold wears out?

They get rid of it. Could always make another plug using an actual cap down the line if the mold wears out.

I'll take my portion of humble pie now . I was doubting how that raised portion of the anchor hatch would look. Now that I see the finished product it looks Just Right.

May as well save a second piece when I see the finished product on the stern as well.

I'm headed over to see it in person today, so I'll hopefully get a few pics. I agree with you about the front. When these things are mocked up in wood it really stands out and looks bizarre, but by the time everything is the same color, faired out and nonskid applied it just blends in and looks normal.

I'm not sure what to say about this boat. The size is staggering. You always hear people say "pictures don't do it justice" and in this case that's an understatement. It's massive. The liner is bigger than most backyard pools. It will dwarf any other 35-42 footer, especially v hulls. I'm not sure it's not too big for me.

The work so far is fantastic. Bill has way more patience with getting things right the first time than I would have, he just keeps plugging away. The whole world is beating on him to get it finished but he still doesn't rush anything and it shows. Soon I'll be able to show many of the little details that will set this boat apart, but for now I'll just say that he has a real winner. There are a few really nice surprises in store still.

Mako, do you plan on selling your boat and purchasing one of these? I haven't read the whole thread word for word so forgive me.
