Thanks Dan M - much obliged. i guess it varies depending on what you ask for.
this boat is a 24 ft one so i imagine i would be paying about $500 plus the engine inspection. For the record what did you do to get the engine(s) inspected and how much did that cost ?

Actually, I am still in the middle of sorting out items from the general survey and haven't gotten to the mechanical survey part yet for the boat I am looking at. My approach basically is that if I can't get by the intial survey issues that may turn up, I don't want to spend the money on an engine survey.. From past experience though I would say that what the survey will consist of will be different depending on the type of power, number of engines etc. I would guess no matter what, that you are looking at 2-3 hours of an engine techs time or about $200-$300 for this. If oil samples need to be taken and diagnosed, that would add to the cost.

Hello, www.boatexportusa.com they have 50,000 + boats for export and can assist with your boat export/survey/contracts, average survey cost for 31' footer is approx $20-$22 per linear ft of the boat, good luck!

I paid $450 to have a Grady White 300 Marlin done (4) years ago. The engine inspection (twins) was around $300.
