Single layer juniper stripped bottom and sides. Sides have a thin layer of diagonal okume over the strips. I believe this take a lot of man hrs off of the fairing stage before paint

All these boats are beauties. That Guthrie though, like most other plank on frames I've seen just blow my mind. Really an amazing way those builders use the "rack of the eye" to produce something that looks like it was machined. Especially given the compound curves. I agree it will be a shame if the craft dwindles any further.

Thanks Westco, obvious now you answered. I now remember other plank boats being overlayed with plywood as well. Probably helps tie all planking together as well.

That Brownell is beautiful. It has been in the market for the past 2-3 years.

Yup new listing and new pics. I met the owner and he’s ready to let her go. He has a new home and it can’t accomadate a boat this size.

My grandpa commissioned Guy Harvey to do this. The old school guys out of Stuart may remember the Escape. A 1979 53 hatteras. Many great memories.
This is one of my most valued possessions.

What a great boat, I was lucky enough to spend a day on the boat last year looking her over bow to stern for purchase. It was for sale in Clearwater and the owner (who was now blind)showed me the boat and amazingly know every inch of 5he boat from memory. We probably missed a great one, I think about that one often, still has a lot of life left, Thanks for sharing,Kris
