Default Contender LOA 28' Construction

Can anyone clarify the construction differences between years of Contenders (explicitly the 25/27/28 - the boat with LOA 28') with the euro transom for say like 1998 through 2013?

Reading David Pascoe's review of the Contender, it was clear there was no wood below the waterline where he says: "The hull is solid glass"

Did they introduce coring later?
Was/is the transom coring wood?
Has there been any systemic detioriation / delamination / rot issues with these models?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Transom is marine plywood. Hull below water line is solid glass.

Deck is core and plywood.

No delamination, especially with the older hulls.

The "28" is a solid boat, Nexxxt is what I'd call an expert on these boats! From speaking to him and seeing all of the threads he's posted on, he know's his Contenders.

From two years of owning an '06 25 open (28 loa) and it was a sweet boat.

All transoms after 2011 are high density structural foam. Our stringers are and have always been foam as well.

The deck is also structural foam with the exception of some small high stress areas(e.g. around rod holders).

Our method of building using wood is to fully encapsulate the wood and this over time has shown to be very effective and offers superior strength.

nexxxt214, What would you consider "older" hulls? Before '06 or from the 90's?
