I wonder if one would be able to find this fine gentleman on FB.

I know how things are handled in my business.

I started this build in the beginning of june and stayed till the middle of august with 3 men from fl and one local worker. as I left in august I was owed a little over 21k which was my mistake I made because I trusted the owners partner who ive built around 10 boats for in the last 3 years. long story short I think everyone here has seen my perseverance and dedication to the boat and her owners from day one. to clear the air for alarms, while I was in ft.lauderdale in a meeting with owners I provided quotes with items needed to make this trip work. which on that list were 8 bildge pumps and 6 high water alarms. I was not funded with a complete payment for materials as a matter of fact after the owner knew he owed me a substantial amount he continued to ask me to put more funds out of my personal accounts. I told the owner while I was in jersey before she left that he had taped me out of funds and I had nothing more to help him he continued to be in a hurry to get her underway which he denies now. I have asked for high water alarms again in SC and again when I arrived home in FL they are still not installed or purchased. after I went back to myrtle beach relieved the original crew with myself a good friend of mine a licensed captain for them to get insurance. they still haven't insured the vessel because it hasn't been hauled for survey. I traveled up to myrtle beach pickled the engines, helped put all the barrels back in the cockpit, re installed the saddle tanks, flushed all lines and re mounted oil tanks, pickled the generator and got it running as well, completely degreased ,bleached and orpined the whole interior and then air dried her. after we got her ready to go we put provisions on board and got underway. we did nothing but our best for this gentleman and delivered his boat home safe and sound on our part. as of us returning I was told he would sign something stating he owed me what he owed me and he would pay in somewhat of a timely manner, which when we met he refused so obviously hes been planning this since ive been under way on wanderer. now because he tells me I made him make this decision by trying to have him sign an agreement he has chosen not to pay and tells me he will be trying to charge me with the same as the old crew. all I did was ask for a simple signature to state ive provided a service for you and would like to be paid sometime in the near future . as a bonus to all of it he had the audacity to tell me that I cant be paid now because he needs to finish the boat. so if I gave him three guys all summer and a floating boat in the end and he does this to me what do you think he'll do to all of the other companies needed to refit this vessel so watch out for him.
what are your opinions would love to hear them.

Were you under some type of contract to deliver the vessel for repairs?

If so, unfortunately, it sounds as if the captain could potentially be held accountable for crewing a non seaworthy vessel (pecuniary liability) . I can virtually guarantee you that this boat was uninsurable in its current state so either you or whomever captained her may also be held liable for whatever environmental damages, cleanup cost, or emergency response charges resulted due to her 2nd sinking.

By knowingly operating the vessel without a suitable bilge and high water alarm the captain assumed responsibility when he took charge of the vessel and now could even be required to repay the owner for additional vessel damages.

To make things worse, the owner asked you to install the recommended equipment, yes at your cost, but they did request it.

I hope I'm wrong but from what I have read it looks bad for you.

That link for FB is clearly the wrong person. If you watch the video you will know its not the DB in the FB link above.

The proper FB link is https://www.facebook.com/stelios.hiotis.9 based on his picture and unprivate profile pic.

Im no PI, but it sounds to me like the quy in the video and the link i just posted is NEMS and not the owner. I think the news report got it wrong, but I am just speculating

bingo. NEMS knows a lot more then he's telling. NEMS was found negligent and the owners are out over $185,000.00. because of it. there was over 4,000 gallons of diesel that was left on the boat when he left NJ and it all washed out in our marina when it sunk in SC.

Found negligent? Already? By who? Very strong medicine from a brand new poster on one of THT's all time threads. To be sure, you may be right, you may be well connected, but that kind of counter intuitive post from a brand new poster will be scrutinized and questioned….fair warning.

"An Horry County Fire and rescue towboat recovered or removed seven 55-gallon drums and two 50-gallon fuel tanks from the yacht. The owner confirmed there were no other fuel sources on board"
http://www.wtoc.com/story/23680234/s...ine-and-grille

Where did you come up with 4000 gallons? Where would you put the other 2000 gallons on that boat?

I highly doubly there was 4000gal of diesel left in that boat for months and months. Also if he was found negligent for the sink why was he allowed to continue moving the boat south? I know if it was my boat and it sank because of someone they sure wouldn't be on my boat ever again.

You also said the "word on the dock" was that the coast guard was footing the bill. Yet now you say the owner is. Maybe you should stop gossiping?
