May be a dumb question but since the boat sank and you recovered it can you claim it under salvage law? Or did the owner pay for the raising of the boat?

This is not my area of expertise, but how about a mechanic's lien?

Honestly, if there are lawyers involved, nothing good can come from you posting anything material about the trip on here. You should leave it in the hands of YOUR lawyer and don't worry about public (THT) opinion.
Of course pictures are always great.

WOW !!! That is a terrible ending to a great story. I am sorry for your troubles and I hope you get every penny you deserve.

That boat is cursed.

I would personally like to see the boat sunk to the bottom now. The owner must be a real ass hat to not pay. I have also found when working for "friends" I want my money up front. Friends and family are the first to screw you so the fact you built some boats for the partner doesn't mean much. I would have asked him for the money, seeing as he obviously trusted you to do the work on his other boats, he should have not doubt you would be as stand up on this one.

All that being said, I am sorry to hear of your troubles and I hope you get it worked out

typically, THT advocates an additional step in the retribution process, prior to burning of said house, which includes unnatural acts with the offending party's spouse...

I just don't see how it makes any sense.

This boat was on the market for a long long time before this happened and there was nothing wrong with it. The previous owner had maintained it very well.
That makes sense as to why he didn't move the boat before sandy. If it had been on the market for a long time then he probably figured he would let insurance pay for it since he couldn't sell it.

Put a lien on it, lock the boat up and focus on other projects. Karma is a b****, trust me, that guy is asking to take one up the tailpipe sometime in the near future.

Hell, put the fu**er on eBay under the heading "65' Viking Submarine. Twin ox66 power, previous owner sunk it when he over loaded it for his 300-man gay gangbang world record attempt. Best offer takes it"
