Hmm...interesting.... I am glad they were able to continue their journey.

Additionally, the thread was started by someone who saw the boat and did not know what it was about. The repairer then came on here and updated us (a class act IMO) but that was NOT the original intention of the thread, rather an added bonus.

Good Luck!

and now my contribution to the naming thread. Double Down is great and will be hard to beat. the 2 that I have come up with are Down Under or Bottom Dweller
Thanks Mod 7, I am in shock as to how this thread has turned out.(positive way)

For those who find my poll to be in bad taste, I had agreed with you and asked to have it removed, but after talking to NEMS he and the owner were fine with it. I did not mean to offend anyone, only add a little fun to this situation that no one wishes would have happened (the sinking 2X).

Default Back in action!

The Wanderer is on her way south. She just left Georgetown Landing Marina and is making way. The boat is surprisingly maneuverable considering the size of the props these Yamahas are turning compared to the weight of the boat. This actually seems to be a viable option in moving a boat like this instead of towing. Bunch of nice guys and I wish them the best of luck on the rest of their trip.

Frankly, I am a little unnerved the Mod even thought about removing it. I know moderating is a tough and thankless job. I appreciate what they do, honestly I do...but to even think about removing this one....hmm. I loved the poll from the beginning...loved the non polled names too...and always thought NEMS would too. I am glad they did....and know that we're all pulling for 'em!!

NEMS Boatworks is a class act by keeping THT up to date despite a number of adversities! Thanks. Good luck on the continued voyage. Amazing that you got the boat back up and engines running in the short time--about 6 days!

We shouldn't be so surprised that 500 hp can move this boat at displacement speeds. Lots of 60 ft. sailboats have a single engine of around 150 hp.

Most boaters don't realize how little hp is required to move a boat at less than hull speed.

This pic clears up the steering questions. Big tie bar and a hydraulic cylinder I assume.

I am glad NEMS took it well , But I did think it was in bad taste at the time and almost PM the mod about it . Having been thought it I would have not taken it so well right after it happened . But it was a boat I had a lot of time with not a fixer upper I just got , so there was some attachment involved .

I think Edmund just worded his reply weird. Lots of whiners wanted a mod to clean the thread for anything that wasn't a dry, statistical based update from NPR

I think Edmund meant "the group as a whole" not a mod specifically

Could be wrong though

However I am glad you let the thread live on and not kill it once some idiots started whining about hurt feelings over naming a abandoned, salvaged boat that has no clear owner

No wonder everyone gets so butt hurt these days. Upset over Double Down?!?

Go volunteer in your community if you are that worried about making the less fortunate happy
