Default Wireing Diagram for Mercury 50 HP 4 stroke

Can anyone send me a copy of a wireing diagram for a 1999 50 HP Mercury 4 storke.
The problem I am having is I can not start the motor from the key. If I remove one of the red wires and put battery to the remaining red wire and turn the key the motor will start.
I need to know where the red wires are going.

On my 175 EFI Mercury the red wire comes from the battery, via the starter solenoid, through a 20 amp fuse to the switch at the helm. From there power is made available to the instruments, ECM, trim/tilt motor and starter motor. I think this is conventional wiring and yours would be the same, or similar.

Here is a link to a Mercury maintenance manuals. A wiring diagram of sorts should be in there for your motor. See page 2B-25.
