It would hold the weight of the motors, the issue is what the added weight of those four-strokes would do to the ride. 4-stroke motors didn't start to become very popular until 2006, so the earlier hulls were designed for the lighter and less torquey 2-strokes. In '06 we re-tooled the hulls in order to support the weight and torque of the 4-strokes by increasing the running surface as well as beefing up the transom. What you could end up experiencing by re-powering with triple F350's is a porpoising problem. This would potentially be before getting onto plane and could possibly continue causing the bow to bounce even in just a small chop. If you are looking to re-power we would recommend looking into the F300's. The weight difference is huge... and when looking at the power to weight ratio, it makes sense. Triple F350's would be a total of 2,400 LBS and 1,050 HP... While triple F300's would be a total of 1,680 LBS and 900 HP. For the gain of 150 HP you add 720 LBS, not to mention your fuel burn feeding three 6 cylinders is going to be much different from feeding three 8 cylinders. Don't get me wrong some boats like the weight of the triple 350's and run better such as our 39ST. But in your case, we would recommend considering otherwise.

Not my post but I wanted to say thanks to Contender Boats.

When asked simple questions like this so many of the manufacturers just give a standard answer of "No!" with no explanation or suggestion as to a better alternative.

Thanks again.

Exactly. This is the perfect answer. Those f300 seem to be a perfect repower option for a lot for boats out there. So light and they seem to be very efficient.

Does the 39st really run better with the v8's I thought I read on here the 300's were getting crazy mpg and still pushing mid 60's. I guess it likes the torque?

I just repowered my 36 Contender Fisharound with 3 new 300hp Verados. Fuel burn dropped by 20%, crusing speed of 35 Knts dropped from 4300 rpm to 3800 rpm. Used the same props, all else new from gauges back. Hope that helps.
