Hi, we are looking for a solution for extra shade on the boat(for our dogs).
Pictures or ideas would be great.
Thanks.

These are TUUCI Tops.
Good quality, functional, not cheap.

Look-up Hydrashade, can place anywhere on boat in a rod-holder, sunbrella material. I just picked one up and it looks great.

You will get better answers letting everyone know what type of boat you have. Is there a t top etc on it now?

I had an anchor shade for my little Donzi- looks like a beach umbrella, but has 4 corner tie downs. Worked fine and stows away. You can't use it underway though.

Taylor made makes them as well as other cover options:

Before I got my ttop I used a beach umbrella at anchor for shade. Just stuck it in any rod holder that worked best for shade at the time. It was a life saver on those hot days but not much good if real windy or at cruise.

I use a SportBrella. I only paid $20 at Home Depot a few years ago but I've seen them now for $40 at Wal-Mart/Sams. Bought a second one for use on land.

I have a 22' CC and it can be used in my bench seat rod holder with the umbrella going under the T-Top and extending shade to my transom. I use a bungy cord to make sure it doesn't fly out with the wind. This lets 4 of us bottom fish in the shade all day.

I can also put it in front of my console and it will shade the entire bow of my boat letting the dogs and kids have shelter from rain/sun. My son and I use it to camp on the bow. We use 3 bungies for this setup. I can run up to 30mph with the umbrella set up front. I've waterproofed it each year as well.

I just saw they have a bigger version on the site too. The one pictured above is plenty big for my 22' boat though.

This is good for a small boat. I have one. Totally rust proof. On T-top extenders I like this one http://t-topextender.com/index.html a lot better than the one with the stakes in the rod holders. But I still think they are way too expensive for what they are in parts. Come one? $400+ for couple of clamps/ rods and a piece of fabric?

We use a regular market umbrella and with a forward stay we can even run with it.

Because there is no extra umbrella on the boat, our dogs have to wear goggles!
