Question Contender 23T Acrylic Livewell Hatch Thickness... any help??

We are in the process of replacing our transom livewell fiberglass hatch with an acrylic one on our Contender 23T. But we have been having a hard time determining what acrylic thickness to use. The factory hatch closes seals a little differently since there is a lip on the lid whereas the acrylic one lays flat against the weatherstripping.

I also have a call into contender as well to find out what thickness is used on the factory acrylic hatch but I'm still waiting to hear from them. Does anyone know the thickness of the factory acrylic hatch or know the thickness from one that was custom made and put on the boat? Any help with this would be greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Can you back into the answer by looking at the clearance for the hinges?

Thanks for the responses guys! I tried measuring when I removed the hatch but it was difficult to determine if the acrylic hatch would need to sit flush on the ridge of where the original hatch would close on or if it would close right on the weatherstripping.

RButler, thanks for your help with this. I've tried getting in touch with contender but haven't heard back from them yet. From what I understand, buying the acrylic hatch from them is quite expensive.

I have a place that I was going to go with (prospect plastics), but I needed to verify the thickness. It seems that 1/2" would do the job but some people think that 3/4" is the correct size. I just want to make sure so I don't make a costly mistake.

The factory clear livewell lid for the 25T is 3/4" thick. If you give us a call I'd be happy to get you a quote on buying one direct. You can call the main office at 305-230-1600 or reach me directly at 305-242-7431.

Just curious any thoughts on replacing with starboard? Them it can be used as a bait prep area as well and will hold up better than the acrylic.

Contender has stepped up with customer responses and monitor this board pretty regular.

Yes, Same Boat, different name! Contender now calls 23T a 25T.

Sorry for the confusion... we are talking about the same boat (23T is now the 25T).

Ross, this is not Stacy. There are several of us who handle THT questions - this is Chris.
