Funny story... (yes this has to do with a boat name)

Some years ago (about 11 as a matter of fact) my family and I purchased a small restaurant on a small island on the coast of North Carolina. Every weekend I'd answer the phone and take a togo order from a guy who always left the name of Buck Wild for the order to be picked up by. This is a small fishing community and by calling mostly on weekends I came to assume this was some yahoo that left the name of his boat or fishing team instead of his real name. I mean...seriously...Buck Wild does sound like the name of a boat, right? And again, these calls came on the weekends when out of town fishermen were on the island.

I can not stress enough that I really did think Buck Wild was the name of a boat...the only other logical thing I could think was that it was a porn star, and I highly doubted that. LoL Seriously, what better name for a boat or a porn star...right?

After about a month I found out it wasn't a boat name at all. It was a fellow who came in for lunch a few days a week and ordered togo on the weekends (that's why I only got the phone calls over the weekend when out of town fishermen were around). This guy worked over in Marshallburg at Heritage Boatworks building boats with Robbie Brittingham.

I have never told him this story and that I thought his togo orders were being made by some guy from off who loved his boat so much he left the boat name on his food orders! LoL

Folks on this board will recognize this guy too. He is Capt Hugh Wilde who tells some awesome stories from around the Morehead City/Carteret County area of the North Carolina Coast.

Capt Hugh Wilde...aka...Buck Wilde

Buck is truly larger than life. What a great person.

Mad Maddox. Named after my son (8), but he says he's not mad. Sorta a play on Mad Max.
