Default Ideas for a Novel

Hi guys! I thought I posted earlier, but do not see it, so if it pops up twice I'm sorry. I am writing a novel that involves a boating accident. I have some info already, but would love to hear some ideas from all of you. What could a mouse chew through and build a nest on a boat engine that would make the boat get stuck on plane and not steer? Thanks for your comments.

seriously???? . . . Do you know how a boat steers and how controls work?? Hate to break it to you but this not a realistic situation . . . on par with Jaws in Moonraker.

alright I got it how about a:
#1 a zip tie that is on the throttle linkage pin at the throttle body holding it in place (placed there by a lazy mechanic and chewed most of the way through by a rat named Fievel, the same one from "An American Tail") = broken throttle linkage at speed, and
#2 a hydraulic steering hose that has a small hole chewed in it that bleeds out then looses steering at the most inopportune time.

Im sure the results of this are going to be catastrophic. But, as far as boating accidents go you might as well make it an alcohol related crash, that would be more realistic.

if you use my ideas I expect a free copy of the book and a portion of royalties.

Much easier to put the blame on squirrels. Had a neighbor once that had squirrels do serious damage to his boat and Buick SUV that he kept parked in his yard. It ate the insulation off the wiring!
Don't know all of the details but it cost him a good deal of money to have it repaired.

Default Make it....

Make it a Suzuki or Etec. Way more realistic to make it happen.

Maybe you could have the guy crash his boat b/c marijuana was just legalized in his state and he all of a sudden lost the ability to do anything

Apparently not, that's probably why he asked what he asked Einstein. Nice contribution....

To the OP, hydraulic steering lines....electrical throttle wires.
