Wow....

Frigid rigid gave me a brand new coffin box in exchange for a 6 year old one... Oh and I am not the original owner either....

They stood behind their product....

Where is yeti now? I was going to buy two (console, and leaning post)... unless they step up, my business is going back to Frigid Rigid...

Thanks nexxxt I wouldnt expect much from them at this point but hopefully they will rethink the next warranty claim. They are going to shit a brick when they see all these potential customers disapearing.

It's a shame, we actually loved the cooler but without customer service a company is nothing

I've been considering an upgrade from my 5-day Igloos to a Yeti but I will definitely take a good look at their competitors if I go that route. I think there was a day when there wasn't any competition for Yeti but I hope those days are gone now. I may even decide to be satisfied with the two or three seasons that I get out of the Igloos and Colemans.

Pretty crappy customer service. Even if it's out of warranty, they should stand behind their manufacturing defect.

I don't know what their margin on the cooler is, but they could easily have had the "Yeti's Customer Service is the Best" thread instead of what they will get now, for a few hundred bucks. Stupid move.

My igloo 150qt marine cooler has worked fine for me. I've had for over 15 years and is starting to show its age. I will replace it with a igloo soon. The yeti is way over priced.

This is my post on Yeti's Facedork page, for what its worth.....

I read a post on a forum that talks about Yeti's customer service and warranty policies. According to the OP they had purchased a cooler directly from Yeti and after a few years it became apparent that the workmanship and or materials were less than for a cooler that cost $800. (Odom)

Customer service tried to make good but all they really did was create a air of animosity. Instead of acting in a fashion you would expect from a company that is based in the United States all they really did was insult the buyer with their actions.

And so in this economy, people are more apt to expect a little more consideration from a company when buying their product. After all the Odom family could of purchased another brand but chose not to. This leads me to my picture.

"NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSTT" There are many meanings of this but the one I go with is "No one wounds me with impunity"
Although I have no connection to the Odom family other than reading their post I feel some compassion for their situation. That being said I don't think a company based in the US. or any other place for that matter should be able to take advantage of the consumer with out consequences for their less than admirable actions.

Why did you pay over $800 if you got it direct through the guide program? The list is $480 for guides...

Did u contact Flip Palot? (sp). Seriously, Frigid Rigid is fiberglass outside and can be repaired by any fiberglass guy if needed. I've had mine 3 years and it's still like new. I expect it to last my lifetime. No way a light plastic Yeti would outlast a Frigid.

I am sorry to hear this but for every one bad experience there have been thousands of good ones. I have 3 Tundras and have had two problems. One cooler had a defective latch pin and I tore the latch off another. I called them up both times and they mailed me the parts I needed, plus an extra, and included hats and stickers for the trouble on their dime. Maybe the new ownership has changed something with the company but they have always been above board in my dealings.

I hope you get it resolved, and threads like this have done some amazing things for people in your position.

That sucks! They obviously are aware of an existing problem with that type of cooler and they are sticking it to you. Not cool at all. I have three of their coolers and no problems....but this thread will certainly make me look elsewhere before I buy another. Companies do not get it! Especially when someone on THT gets screwed. There are a lot of guys on here that drop A LOT of coin on high end items. I thread of a deal gone bad...with good justification will cost a company 1000's.....they may not believe it...but that is the truth! Hope they man up and do what is right!

What is funny about Yeti also is their web police. Got a buddy that tried to sell an old cooler on ebay. The had ebay shut his ad down because he used a pic of the cooler off their website! BASTARDS! Of course you will find them selling their "seconds" under a different name on eBay very frequently. Guess they do not want competition!

IT WILL KILL THEM THAT THEY CANNOT STOP THIS THREAD!!!

There have been quite a few tests and the yeti holds ice no better then a coleman extreme. I always figuired if they didn't keep shit colder then you were just paying for one tough cooler that would last. I guess not, they are just overpriced. I'll stick with coleman's, made in america and I can buy one every 3-4 years for about 16 years before I have reached the point of breaking even on the yeti. From the tests I have seen the Engel is the only cooler that stands above the rest for ice retention.

Why would they help you out they figure you are a DS for spending $800 on a cooler. For that kind of money you could have got an Engel refer

I had a 85 Yeti that had gotten a concave spot on the lid. They sent me a new cooler no questions asked with a return shipping label for the damaged cooler. I think the cooler was over three years old. Great customer service for me. I bought two moreYeti's after the way they handled my problem.

Sad but that's how some poorly managed businesses roll, maybe their customer service department is in India. By tomorrow this thread will be indexed on Googles first page.

I always assumed part of what you are paying for in a high end cooler like a Yeti is a generous program for repair or replacement at little to no cost. Looks like I was wrong.

ProFISHent you come across as intelligent and more important, as reasonable, and you are definitely in the right as pertains to the issue with this cooler.

I hope it works out for you and thanks for warning us boaters and best of good fortune to you.

Yes engel makes an outstanding cooler and are our next choice for future coolers but at the time (don't know if it's changed) they didnt make a 270 qt cooler te biggest was like a 120.

And yes we know there are countless stories of happy customers (we were one until recently) but if we don't know that 100% of the time the cpany will back their product it dost help us.

Like I said this seems to be a problem isolated to their roughneck series and somehow those came with a different warranty EVEN THOUGH THEIR WEBSITE SAYS ALL PRODUCTS MADE BY YETI COOLERS COME WITH A 5 YEAR WARRANTY.

And sorry to the dealer who might stand to loose some business over these threads on forums. It is not my intentions but I would like to know if a company was doing something like this to others.
