Underwater LED lights blowing fuse

I just got around to installing a pair of Aqua Rebel 12 lights that I won in a contest here on THT courtesy of Rebel Designs.
The fuse blows immediately upon turning them on. I have them wired to a toggle switch with an in-line fuse. 5A is what is recommended for two lights, it's blowing 10 and 15's. The lights had about 8' of 22 or 24GA wire and I used 16GA to finish the run to the switch and power. Total is only 15 to 20'. I did have to use a large ring teminal at the switch to accommodate two pieces of wire. Don't know if that is an issue.
I ran the red to the switch and on to the power, same with the black to neg. Seemed straightforward, now I'm beginning to wonder.
