Anybody have an opinion on them??? Are they still in business?? Went to their web site and called them to find a dealer so I could look at them and the number wasn't in service anymore. Called the number to find a service center and spoke to someone at Big R and he referred me to 2 supposed dealers in my area (Baton Rouge)....called them both and they had never heard of them.....Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.

Personal experience? Is this what you have heard or based on experience?
Details please!
I see poor reviews for Minn Kota and motor guide lately too... Seems like quality may have dropped on all of these lately. Does anyone have actual recent experience?
If watersnake warranty is for real then it seems like it is worth a shot...the warranty service center is the same place as for minn Kota and motorguide locally...
Details please!

Really? I just called the local service place in MA. Guy said he has only had about 5 ever come in for service. No specific issues from his perspective but he said sometimes it takes awhile to get parts from the distributor in S.Carolina.
I may very well get a minn kota but its not very productive to say to just get one without using reasoning or evaluating options. Then again, most folks are just lemmings and probably like that type of basic advice. Personally I'd like to evaluate the options and data first and then make a determination of which to buy.

All of the people saying buy a minnkota are giving it a positive review. They sell so many units that three are bound to be a bunch of negative reviews out there. Most people that are happy with something they bought only give a positive review when asked. Get a bad one and people take out bulletin board ads and flame them on every forum on the internet. I have been running a mk ST80 with ipilot for a few years now and I love it. My steering box locked up on me and they sent me the parts to rebuild it a year out of warranty for free. I plan on running their products from now on.

There was some kind of rubber ball were the shaft met the mount.....when ever you were in any chop at all the the motor would slam the deck. That rubber ball fell appart and the trolling motor just flopped around....
The whole thing felt cheap.
From the first time we used it the motor would torque the mount and it would bend horribly
Hope you have better luck than we did if you decide to buy one

I won't a 54 lb. thrust saltwater water snake trolling motor.
It is actual my second one. The first one I bought lasted about a year and then something went wrong with it electronically and I sent it back. They honored there warranty but were unable to fix it and sent me a new one. I got that one last fall and used it twice and put the boat up for the year. Went I took the boat back out this year it would not work right so I sent it back and I'm waiting to get it back now. My suggestion to y'all is to pay the extra 600 and get a MK because even though they honor there warranty it is a piece of crap and isn't worth the money nor the name.
