Default Sorry to revive an old thread

I am planning on upgrading my GPS/fish finder from 2008 to the Simrad Go7 this year. I figured I might as well build the MNEAA2000 network and get data off my ~2008 Optimax 150. As I read this old thread, I am getting that I would need to install the MercMonitor gauge as well, then link that to the network?

It doesn't make sense to have to install a new gauge so I can look at the same data on the Go7.

Can anyone confirm this, or post a link to the "network hub" that would convert the data?

Thanks

Makes no sense but you are correct. You have to purchase the gauge and the gateway connector. They are very proud of this as well.

You can purchase either a NMEA 2000 Gateway (no gauge, module only), MercMonitor (round gauge with built-in Gateway), Vessel View 4, or a Vessel View 7. The Vessel View 7 is built by Simrad and has chart plotting, sonar, and radar capabilities once combined with proper equipment. This may be an option for you to look into.

I had NMEA on my 2006 opti through a mercmonitor II. the harness has a NMEA2000 connector as well as NMEA 0183. I also have a converter box that converts to NMEA2000 if you dont have a mercmonitor that I ended up not using. They cost about $350, so you can choose between it and a mercmonitor at maybe $500. I can display all the mercmonitor info on my Lowrance hds units in a different formate than just small digital numbers, such as round guages. I like it.
