Default My contender stripped clean last night...beware

My new (to me) contender 28s was stolen last night from JJs boat storage facility in Jupiter fl, driven 100 yards across the street and stripped clean. Twin f250s, twin garmin 4212s, stereo, rigging etc gone. They cut the fence to get in, then hotwired a Ford 250 also being stored there, cut my many locks on the trailer then used the boat/truck as a battering ram to get out of my storage lot. Then they drove directly across the street, rammed another gate and stripped the boat clean in the parking lot next to another business.

My lessons from the experience so far and warnings to others:

- Watch your back… assume they followed me from the boat ramp

- Police are hardworking and supportive but have little to catch these guys…no prints, no witnesses, no video. And btw, 400+ incidents of marine engine theft in Palm Beach County alone last year according to the guys at Tuppins.

- You CANNOT secure a boat on a trailer in Florida ANYWHERE. BUT PARTICULARLY NOT AT JJs BOAT STORAGE IN JUPITER FL. They promote video surveillance but when we needed video today the images were on tape, very poor quality and useless. The only crime JJs Storage might deter is a bum from sleeping in your boat…maybe. What a joke.

- If you insure your boat with Progressive be prepared to be treated like a criminal…not a customer.

- The gentlemen at Tuppins Marine in Lake worth are some of the finest you will deal with in the industry.

- I haven’t told my kids yet they will be scared and crushed at the same time.

- Summer time has been delayed…

I've seen you out running around and have always loved your contender. Do they have any idea as to who did it? I doubt theres that many people running around trying to sell twin yamahas and garmin electronics just like yours. Keep us updated and hopefully you will catch the SOB's that stole your stuff.

This stuff just makes me sick. My boat was stolen a little over 3 years ago so I know how you feel. It just plain sucks.

Damn, where is JJs? I feel better when my boat is in the water here in Jupiter. I wonder if they drove a short distance so a GPS tracker wouldn't alert? I guess those motors are in a container on their way to the islands or south America now. Disgusting. A storage lot near a lot of people sure would be a better bet I guess.

Watch the local Craigslist for suspiciously familiar gear to pop up soon.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. Been there and got a meaningless video of our old Mako being stolen several years ago. Without a license plate number the cops had no leads and did nothing It's a punch in the gut.

The professional crooks see boats as low hanging fruit and there doesn't seem to be an effort to counter them through technology or police work. It's only a matter of time before it spreads to other parts of the country IMO...until something is done.

Time to add flamethrower security alarms to the trailers in FL. A little James Bond style BBQ oughta set those POS MF'ers straight. Thieves are the lowest form of human existence.

If Progressive screws with you, don't hestitate to contact a lawyer that specifically does first party insurance work. There are plenty of good ones in that area that will talk to you for nothing. If you need a suggestion, happy to give you a couple.

Sorry for your loss. The theft in Jupiter is crazy. I had twin Honda 150's stolen twice in 2011. Same MO. Cut the fence were gone. The second time, no detective ever worked the case - crazy huh? Anyway - STAY OUT OF PUBLIC STORAGE on Military and Tony Pena. at least 10 motors stolen in the past 2 years (4 of them mine....). Also check your PM's.
