Default Motorguide W75 wireless questions

I just bought a Motorguide W75 wireless, installed it yesterday and took it out for her maiden voyage. Couple of things will take some getting used to and definitely need to put some glow in the dark tape on the head so I can see it at night, but the biggest thing I did not care for was the mount.
It is mounted on a fish & ski and is lowered as far as it will go so the only thing to grab onto is the head itself. I do not bend, not even a nano-inch, so I have to do all of this on my knees - that is not the trolling motors fault....
So to lower the motor, I pull up on the handle with my right hand while holding the motor in my left or else it will go flying down - which I would imagine would not be the best thing in the world for my hull - so I have to hold on to it and ease it down.
To raise it, there is a lot of pressure on the handle due to the weight of the motor so I have to grab the head and raise it up slightly to relieve the pressure, then pull the handle with my right hand and pull the motor up with my left hand.
Can't say it is "hard", but it is a pain.

I was describing this in a min review and someone told me he loved his mount and he had a retractable cord that clipped on his ????????
I looked on a parts list and saw no mention of this and I checked the owner's manual again and it says to do it pretty much like I was doing it..
"Firmly grasp the column with one hand and then pull up on the release handle with the other hand."
which translates to me getting on my knees, pulling the motor up some to relieve the pressure, raising the release handle with my right hand and pulling back the motor.....

I don;t even see how a cable would be possible since the release handle is separate. I guess you could have 2 cables, but since the release handle comes straight up, seems you would have to have some type of pulley system so the cable would be above the handle, pulling it up....

anyway - I think I will like the motor, I doubt i will ever like the mount and the way it raises and lowers - unless I am missing something and there is some type of retractable cord I am not aware of ?????
anyone ever hear of this ?
Thanks for any info
