Help Picking a Boat
Would appreciate some input from you THTrs. I'm looking for a boat. Would use in the Galveston area....mostly in the bay (jetties, etc...) but occasionally would like to take it out and go after sharks or out to some rigs. I've got my eye on two boats...a 2007 Century 2301 oe a 2010 Nautical Star bay boat. Admittedly very different boats. Links for each are below. Would appreciate any and all thoughts on these boats from folks who have fished them and/or have some idea whether they are priced right. Nautical Star ad does not give boat hours but I checked...boat has 204 hours. Thanks for your input

The century is a sister to a 2008 cobia 236 I had. Made from the same mold. It is very cramped in the cockpit and will be a wet ride if the wind is blowing at all. They like to ride flat on top of the water and tend to "slap" the waves like you would expect a flater bottomed boat to ride. My experience was poor in its ability to hold up to normal use. Definitely not my recommendation. I am not familiar with the nauti star.

All, very helpful information and much appreciated. I guess I need to "chew" on it a bit. Certainly don't want to buy something and then have regrets.

I would say a Sea Vee 25 or 26 they ride great and have a draft around 1'9 with yamaha 250 4 stroke though its more a offshore boat. but another suggestion would be a newer Sea Fox or a pathfinder, both ride great and get good fuel economy, but the pathfinder can get wet in nasty weather but if youre manily gonna be inshore the pathfinder would be a good idea.

Thanks WolPackVO...that ad caught my eye but the boat is in NC...I'm in TX...cost associated with going to look at it (which wouldn't be too bad) and getting it here (which would be high) sort of dampened my interest.
