I'd guess Bass Boat or Montauk. What size is it?

x2 on the Nauset - I've got one. Looks like that one has had the console & seat removed.

x3 on Nausett. Looks like a pre-smirk. Also agree with the comment on the after market console.

In '62, you would have had a choice of a 16' Nauset or Eastport.... if it's a '63, you make have a Sakonnet.

If you can get the Metal Tag or Stenciled # off the hull, that will give you the what's what on the boat. Looking at the photo, it looks to be updated, so all bets are off....

its a 16'7" hull, they made a ton of variations with the difference being in the console/seat setup. Once you have an aftermarket console/seat you can make up a new name if you would like, as the only thing that made a nauset hull different from an eastporter hull was how they were outfitted.
I had a 1972 Cohassett II, which signified a particular console in conjunction with the RPS seat. I put on a custom console and a custom leaning post so it was no longer a Cohassett II, but rather just a whaler 16'7" center console. Must people just use the term montauk to refer to any whaler center console that size, kinda like how some people call any inflatable a zodiac, regardless of brand.
