Default Curious - How many new boats

How many of you bought a brand new boat since January 2008? Those that did, what did you buy?

Bought a new Regulator 29 and a new donzi 22 classic. Both were left over inventory and the deals were incredible.

Why do you ask?

Crestliner Superhawk 1900, leftover 2009 brand new. Bought in May 2010. All the boats that I have bought have been new. Not a good enough mechanic nor rich enough to buy a used boat.

I moved up from a 64 to a new 68 Viking in late 08 (I believe). I also have had a few mid-size CCs built in the last 2 1/2 years and bought a new flats boat a couple of years ago. That being said, I would prefer to buy a used boat to a new one and have bought several used ones in the last few years also. I'll let someone else take the 30% hit in depreciation if I can, but in the above instances, buying new was the only way to really get what I wanted. In addition, I really enjoy the process of having a boat built to my specifications.

I just bought a 2011 Chaos flats boat. I also have bought and sold a couple of used boats in the last year and a half. I agree with islander11 let someone else take the depreciation. That being said I had a lot of fun getting my Chaos just the way I wanted it.

Infintas, I just checked out the pics of your Chaos. You've really got an awesome boat, a perfect example of a reason to say "to hell with depreciation" and have one built the way you want it.

I did. Bought a 2010 Skeeter ZX22v bayboat. I live in central Ky, where no one had ever seen or heard of a bayboat until I bought mine (bassboat country). Strongly considered buying a Yellowfin 24 or a Pathfinder 24. Ultimately bought the Skeeter due to the fact I was able to buy it at true dealer cost from my local Skeeter dealer. I had been a previous owner of this dealership along with the current owner, and we have remained good friends ever since. I even filed out the order forms myself.

Very nice boat--has exceeded my expectations of what it would be. Well made, quality components, performs very well. 58 mph @ 5800 rpm best top end I have seen so far. BUT my next boat will be a Yellowfin 24!
