Default Mid 90's 31' Fountain

Looking at one of these, would use for offshore fishing in NJ, I've fished Yellowfins, Tritons, regs, in the similar size range. How is the head sea ride, following? How are they on the hook, drift? Anyone want to speculate numbers w/ 250 opti's?

I would also be interested to know how this boat will perform in the waters off the NJ coast. I've heard that most 31 Fountains cruise around 40mph. I've never been on a Fountain but cruising that fast on the average day here sounds like a real back ache. How does the boat perform around 25-30mph? Are they more/less fuel efficient at those speeds? Thanks

when I would make the 65-70 mile GS run in my 31 we generally cruised a 38-39 mph. And you can run in some rough stuff. that boat does better when its rough running at that speed than slower. Get a survey to check for rotten stringers. Boat does realy well with 250 optis, plenty with that setup, do a search here. I had 225's and it was a great combo of power and effeceincy. Won't drift as well as some of the others you mentioned b/c it is a little bit narrow comparably

Are they prone to it jeffro?
Or just certain years?
Or are you suggesting targeting stringers as you would for any boat?
