Wow, I guess that ties in to that Yamaha cost cutting memo that was discussed here a couple weeks ago.

Too bad, I liked their boats!

Not only is the stimulus package doing nothing for the economy, I just heard that the networks are bumping "Charlie Brown Christmas" so Obama can address the nation. Now I am really mad at him.

Stimulus package....LMAO im sure it all went towards "redistrubuting" money to the poor.

Anyway..sad news to hear i really liked the mid-sized CC's they had.

Sad to see this - unfortunately, I think we will see more. And right before the holidays, damn.

Unhappy Bummed

I just bought a Century 22 WA 2006 and I am bummed to hear this news. This by far is the best boat I have ever owned (Ive had a bunch) and it is a shame to see this happen.

I was suprised to read in their best year the only sold 1,000 boats - that's about 22 per dealer. Since they most of their boats are under $100k, can't see how they could survive on such low volume.

This stinks. I just bought a Century. My wife told me the news this morning. I still don't understand completely. Is Yamaha pulling the plug on Century for good?
Here is a quote from one article. " Yamaha does not plan to bring production back to Panama City should the economy recover" Maybe that means they are keeping the door open to mfr at another location.
I have spoken with Century Customer Service a couple of times on the phone. They have been extremely helpful. I think they make a great product, and felt somewhat smug about bragging that Century was made right here in PC.
I wish the best for all of the employees there.

This sums it up.
Yamaha Motor Corp. USA announced today that production of its Century Boats brand will be discontinued. The decision is effective immediately. The company's 63 employees were told today.
So... done, finished, kaput, no more, history.....

It's really too bad, they did make nice boats.

Default Yamaha

The other kicker is that I was informed that Yamaha has no more motors of any kind until May due to them bleeding their inventory. Yellowfin is already chasing motors around. Used motors are going to sell like hotcakes!!!
