Lots of evidence that the alcohols in this product harm fiberglass. E10 is eating fiberglass tanks. No evidence that bleach harms gel coat. Yes, I will stick with bleach and a detergent.

Bill,
I received my bottle of NSDC. Thank you very much. I used it for the first time and am very impressed. I find that a little goes a very long way. It seems to work as advertised. Is the Attwood product found at WalMart the same formula only rebadged?

Thanks Again. You're a smart business man!

Not to start a battle, but I would be interested in reading some real evidence whether the contents of Starbrite's Deck Cleaner are more harmful than bleach.

here is a link to the Non-skid deck cleaner MSDS:
http://www.starbrite.com/msdssheets/...ds-7-25-06.pdf

I would ask that if anyone has any evidence that NSDC could harm f/g in any way, that it be posted here, ASAP.

the concept that NSDC is more caustic than bleach is pretty silly. I'll place my hand in NSDC - or straight alcohol - for as long as you want and I guarantee it will be quite a bit longer than can be done with bleach.

Skin is just a little bit more delicate than f/g, so draw your own conclusions.

enough of this crap - let's go use our boats!

Do you mix the Detergent and the bleach together?

Its a lot of work but the "Magic Eraser" made by Mr. Clean will take almost all stains off a boat. They don't last long but they work awesome! After I do my deck I get on my hands and knees and scrub with one...looks brand new everytime. Again it's a lot of work!

funny you should mention the Mr Clean product; we just developed a Boat Scuff Eraser. It will be hitting store shelves any day now. It's pretty amazing. Now we have about 45,676 products. Oy.

btw, mixing bleach with other cleaning chemicals can produce toxic fumes - go easy there, Sparky.

(if you like Soft Scrub, you'll like our Easy Scrub)

Hopefully they will be priced cheaper than the Magic Eraser those things are expensive. We go through cases of them at work.

I powerwash the non-skid my Parker. That's the easiest and gives the best results.

Yes, I mix bleach with Simple Green. Just like mixing bleach with laundry detergent (Simpel Green works great in the laundry as well) theres need for alarm. Dont mix bleach with acid. Oxy Clean is great as well.

Has anyone ever tried dishwasher detergent like Cascade? Those are designed to break down and desolve organic material. I always though they would be great for cleaning a deck but have never gotten around to try it. Anything that disolves meat and veggies would seem a good choice for a bloody deck. I'll even let Bill stick his hand in a bottle of it and see how he fares Maybe add in some Jet Dry for a spot free deck :D

What do you think soft scrub is? Bleach, detergent, and a mild abrasive. I dont get why everyone is so freaked out by bleach on their boat but it fine in thousands of houseold cleaning and laundry products. You just cant mix it with acid or amonia. even if you did, theres a big difference between cleaning the exposed deck of a boat and an enclosed shower. Not that I would do it but....
