the joysticks use the bow and stern thrusters (if equipped) in combination with the engines.

and im glad this guy didnt let those two little punks off with that comment.

I am glad you mention the color. None likes my yellow color stripe. I do not know how I could stand so long. I am going to make another post "Save my passenger's faces by improving the color of my boat".

You guys that think that a recreational boater should have the same boating skills as a Shrimper are fooling yourselves. Why do that?

I think if you have a boat, you should know it limits as good as a shrimper.Oh,I was a shrimper at one time! Really, one should know how his/her boat runs. Docking is one of those thinks one learns over time no matter what size boat or type of boat.

Now in my best mexican speech, "Bow thrusters,we don't need no stinking bow thrusters"

I ran a 52 single screw charter boat without a thruster? Not that hard sucked with a 20kt east wind but lined up correctly and no big deal.....
But not his place to run his mouth....

If the kid knew you were there and made the comment, then he's an a$$hole. But it seems he didn't.
So you were the a$$hole for getting in his face.

Learn how to dock the boat without using the thruster.
Then use it for your convenience.

Me- in a not so nice tone of voice ,I want you to show me how good you are at backing in a single screw inboard.

me- I stood there for about a minute where he did his best to act cool with his buddy.
I am glad my new medications are starting to work

Hardly worth the risk to get in someone's face over a silly remark...what meds are you on?

No matter whether they keep their comments to themselves, or run their mouths to anyone who will listen there will be a number of people who think that bow thrusters are the mark of a sissy. You can toss them a proper whipping and they will probably stop running their mouths, but they will still think it.

Nothing wrong with having technology - i.e. a bow thruster - that makes boating less stressfull especially on those days when conditions are against you.

But if you got all huffy with some kid that made a stupid comment, maybe you feel a bit guilty about having to use it?

It is refreshing to see a thread like this one. Ususally these threads are about somone accusing someone else at the marina of being a smart azz.

It is really refreshing to see a poster admit that they were the smart azz at the marina.

InTheNet Haha Good one... Now you'll know who threw the 25 lb. Sheephead under your enclosure some Sunday night in August after you've left for the weekend...

You're in the water already I'm jealous!!!

It's just technology guys - if you can afford it go ahead and get it

Now for all of you who think only sissy girls need a bow thruster..
I trust that you hunt with only a spear like a real man and surely you don't use radar, fish finders and GPS

I don't think I would provoke a confrontation with young turks that know where I keep my boat unattended for long periods of time.

When I read the thread I wondered what was the point of coming here and posting this. After reading three pages I now know that thrusters have a 50/50 sissy rating.

I wonder what the thruster haters think of GPS systems? You can easily Navigate without one, but GPS systems sure do make it easy. The same thing goes with a bow thruster, it can easily be done without it, but if you have the money to get one then why not? Same goes for electric downriggers, teaser reels, and whatever else. Don't hate on modern conveniences.

What would you have done if the "smart azz" called your bluff and proceeded to bang up your boat (and maybe someone else's)?

I guess for every smart azz at the marina, there is a dumb azz as well.
