Default PROLINE DEMISE

Pardon me if I am wrong but I have heard that the Miami boat show was a complete disaster and that the high volume boat company Proline that usually sells up to fifty boats at a normal show managed to scratch out three. Could it be that Proline is reaching the end of their rope?

Sir,
I have heard from quite reliable sources, i.e., people in the "business", that they did comparably to the other builders who are also suffering the effects of this economy, both here and in the states.

Is there a particular reason you singled out Proline? They are well respected over here, unfortunately our economy is suffering as well.

Actually they did pretty well in relation to other brands...this is obviously an internet slam tactic....don't believe it.

Well, looks like we have a real fan here.
A "normal" Miami show, or Lauderdale, or the like, "fifty" would be a great disapointment.
The Miami show was less than successful for many manufacturers, yes us also with them.
However, whoever told you "scratch out three....." is an idiot, perhaps that may be you?
Everything else you said was not only stupid, but offensive to me.
Notice, I use my own name in these threads, and my phone number.
Thus, when I suggest you may be stupid and offensive, I'm right here for you my big mouthed friend.
Wonder how much trouble I'll get over this?

I'm not standing up for this guy, but what I think he meant was that the show was slow (due to the economy) and that some manufacturers may be headed out because of it. Maybe proline was the only one he had heard any info on? Like I said I'm not sticking up for this guy, but trying to make some since from it. If he's just talking out his a$$ then shame on him.

i spoke with mike carrigan at length a few weeks ago, here's what i can tell you, from my experience.
mike sounds like a good guy,i would believe what he has to say, with that, there's a certain gentleman on this board that works for the same company,i wouldn't believe a word he states...
what i can tell you concerning proline...i had a customer's 20 stalker,it was out of warranty,by a year,it had a fuel leak at the tank.pro line paid for the repair !! not many mfg's are gonna do that...it shows something,it shows mabey, just mabey, this company actually cares.gotta respect mike,he lays out who he is,his phone number and his email address, not too many of you guys do that...
sales...well...last time i checked,no one is beating down a boat dealer's door to purchase a new boat, right ??? it's my understanding "hmy" yachts has closed it's doors, marine max has closed a few locations, and no one is building at this point for dealer stock...times are tough, that's a fact...

I don't think that remarks like his are good for anyone. Yes, maybe I overreacted allittle, just allittle, but I've been in this business since I was eighteen or nineteen (I forget) years old. I'm pushing sixty four.
We live in tough times. I feel for our employees that have been laid off, and we're not the only boat company that found it very sadly required to lay off good family people, in a small town that has no other meaningful employment.
I don't take callous and stupid remarks personally as to me. I take them as to the feelings and worries we have about our people, thus a jerk like this is particularly offensive to me. We know our people,we care about them. It's also a published fact that my company elected to pay all the health benefits to our furloughed people. That amounts to allot of money, but it also goe's to the kind of company we are, the kind of people we are, and how we feel about our own.
We intend to reopen our plant the first of March. Not cast in stone, but we're pretty sure.
It may also be interesting to note, I have very good friends, very old friends, that happen to also be my competitors, that I also worry about and feel for. Two of them happen to be my own sons. So, when I listen to a jerk, and I've listened to allot of them lately, it brings to mind: "Lord give me the strength to not strangle the living _ _ _ _ out of someone who sorely deserves it"

I am liking Proline more and more . Mike carrigan sets it out there. the post is plain stupid. anybody who has an ounce of brains has a job etc.... would understand these threads of "going out of business" and "people deserve what they get" and the always interesting " You paid way too much boat saleman make at least 100% on all sales" threads are totally beat. The site is great when you learn somthing ,not when a bunch of blowhards blab about how they are the experts on ............................................ underpowered overpowered mid tier low tier custom semi custom bla bla bla.

Nice I would be in favor of a way to track down these multi-user guys. It would give members a chance to see who they are dealing with. 12 user names is never a good sign.

I have a 1999 Proline 251. Great boat.
Any boat manufacturer selling mostly dreams deserves to be applauded for staying alive in these times when the "best and brightest" running the American auto companies with much better fundamentals need a nautical/fiscal "bail - out".
Good luck and best fortune to all.
Choice is important.

Mike,

First of all I applaud any manufacturer/representative that is willing to make themselves public and give unbiased no-bull feedback to peoples questions/comments. You may not remember me but I called Pro Line last week about a boat I was purchasing. Obviously, you tried to assist me in the purchase of a new boat, but at this time I was unable and found a slightly used Pro Line that I was moving forward with. Even when you discovered this, you were more than willing to answer my questions and give me some great advise about the boat (2006 24' Super Sport). Something that people don't realize in these tough economic times is this: Exceptional customer service and a true appreciation for customers is a key component in making it during troubling times. It is a lost art when times are great and customers are abundant. Mike, I look forward to the shipment of my boat from Florida to Texas this week. I can't wait to get it on the water and test her out. I am sure I will have questions for you when she arrives and I look forward to speaking with you again. Good luck to you and your entire company.

Respectfully,

Chris O.

So who at Pro Line shoved a hot poker up your tight @ss????

Come on back with some facts and truth to discredit them.....

Posts like yours are useless and have no reason for even being on here.

Come on hotshot, tell me who else in this business has developed a new product line to suit the needs and means of these times. If you had read about their products you would have noticed their Pro Lite line of boats are great values and affordable alternatives to the high end lines.

Hell, I own a Key West, I don't even own one of their boats but trust them to be stand up guys doing their level best to keep their business afloat.

You suck....

I too have a Proline ('07 23 Sport) We couldn't be happier with the boat; has been perfect for us.

Mike,
It is great to hear someone from a company speak up like this, back there product with no questions asked, and put their phone number out there for any questions. That makes me love the boat even more. Thank you for what you do. And I agree, why would the OP single out one company, regardless of who it is?

James
