I don't know, how about we go wake the kids and tell them there's no Santa Claus instead?

I was just thinking that people should know who's out or not, someone looking at a boat may not realize that that company is out. Just beacuse the company is out has no reflection on the boat, but it does on the warranty.

sorry about that Sport. I guess I'm just a bit touchy with all these celebratory posts I've seen lately when a boat builder or dealer goes out of business. It's almost as if they are the enemy and deserve what they are getting. To me it's kind of like making a list of all the evil grandmothers we've lost recently. Assuming you meant to acknowledge the suffering of the good people adversely affected by the economic downturn I'll start the ball rolling.

Sea Pro, discontinued.
Pro Sports, discontinued.
Glassmaster, gone.
McKee, gone, maybe?

And the beat goes on. Anyone else?

I;m deffinately not trying to laugh at anyones misfortune. I am a homebuilder and my business is SLOW. I am sure that there will be many good business owners that go out in this market that don't deserve it. I know of several in my line of work that have gone out of business that were good honest people.

SF236,
Most builders who have "gone out of business" have simply shut their doors for a while, riding out this economic storm. I work for one of them. But if you call the company and ask for CS, you will most likely get the CS manager, as you would at my plant. New production may not be where we want it to be, but thousands of people who have bought out boats still need attention. And they get it. And I believe most builders who are in the same situation as us treat their customers the same way.

From someone who is in the business...

Panga.com

I saw them debut three years ago at the miami boat show, and they didn't make it to their 3rd birthday. Its a shame too, for a budget boat I thought they were built very well.

As of Friday at the Atlantic City Boat Show the strong word was they were done not just halting production. It's a shame they are nice boats.

As was said above, many manufacturers are temporarily closing up to wait for orders. Sea Ray's facility in Tennessee is just one example. They can't afford to keep making boats until the existing stock is sold.

That being said, some of the smaller builders won't be coming back.

Just curious, how would the warranty work if you bought one of these boats used from someone? Like a sea pro for example.

This is a report I heard from another builder, not fully verified but I consider it a reliable source.

Everglades has over 100 boats at dealers many of which are 2007 & 2008 models. He indicated that the floor plan finance company will not continue hold paper on these older models and Everglades may be forced to "purchase" them back. I believe this is a change that will affect many manufactures that use this credit/finance company. If it is true the results will be incrediable.
