Great video thanks dude!!! I would buy a cat hull in 2 seconds except the problem is there is no room in the things. What a ride though I was on a 30 something glacier bay it was amazing but I realized how much room it was missing

First time this subject has came up.

Wonder how they got a sheriff's dept. to endorse what is obviously a sales video? Or maybe they were actors also.
Thought public servants were suppose to stay clear of that.

Let the debate begin!

Better ride, not always.

More fuel efficient, not

More stable, maybe moving but not in a cross chop drifting, can you say snap roll

Can you say tunnel slap

Catch an edge and everybody better be holding on.

I like and have owned several cats, buts lets be honest here. There are benefits and drawbacks like most all boats.

First time I have seen a group effort by cat manufacturers support an informational piece for the consumer. I have just spent the last week out in the Maui nui chasing humpbacks in everyhting from slow rollers to short windy chop in a 35' V hull and can say it was comfortable except when we wanted to pick up and move.

All manuevers were to tack across the face or run down swell. Any attempt to take the swell and wind chop at anything less than 45 deg was like driving into a brick wall. We got wet and went nowhere even at 4-6 knots the whales left us behind.

BTW the whaler research boat they run out of Lahaina harbor is a 26 ft GB dual console.

PS any side bets on how many pages this thread will generate?

cat tales not sure what cat your driving, obviously not a glacier bay, i've owned v hulls and now have a 26 Glacier bay and the fuel economy is hands down better than the same size v hull any day. no slap for oncoming waves but your right about the snap roll at rest.

It all depends on what the needs of the vessel is. Both cat and mono do have their places.

As for the video. Pretty sure it is made by the same folks that made the etec videos.

I love the cats have owned 4 of them and my next boat will also be a cat ,but that INFOMERCIAL needs better actors.

I was pretty amazed how they found so many different cats together + sherrif dept. and seatow in such a small are and time frame

I know some the guys that helped make that piece....the boats featured are on a lot about 200 yards from my home....even they admit that it's pretty corny with an obvious "tongue in cheek" flair....don't take it too seriously....not sure of what cat tales issues are....I'll take my 26 twin vee weekender over anything else up to 26ft any day....

Yeah I kinda cringed watching it. It perpetuates the the thinking that there is only one logical choice for anyone choosing a boat. Be it mono or cat or whatever. No new information was supplied so whooosh....off it goes.
