Default Any Silverton Owners Out There?

Just out of curiosity, do any of you have this type of set up as described in another thread by a member who I assume has a Silverton 40AC?

"Actually my set up has the shafts running straight down, with very highly torques trannies. Then I have differentials to another shaft running to the stern. It's great for shallow water and I can simply raise and lower the upper shaft."

No, this is not an attempt to discredit this member, I've just never seen anything like this and he doesn't want to talk about it. I don't know about you guys, but I'm always eager to learn about new things regarding boats. That's why most of us are here, isn't it?

Do you have a Silverton or have you just never heard of a set-up like this?

Actualy, It was supposed to be hush hush but seeing as how Menzies brought it up. The setup in his boat is the grandfather of the IPS systems that are the new rave. He is one of the principle patented inventers contracted out through Volvo. It was his boat that had the first successful sea trial. Where do you think he got all his money to be living in the Bahama's all the time.

Assuming you're not just pulling our legs, why the heck would Menzies not want to expand on what he talked about it in that other thread instead of asking me if I'd ever been on a friggin' Silverton?

I asked you if you had ever been on a Silverton? Really?

Hmmm. Link when you're ready.

And what exactly did you ask me to expand on and when?

Big shovel you have there.

I see a buh buh in your near future.

Whatever.

Is anybody using the IPS system in an aft cabin boat?

I've only been on one boat that had this propulsion system, a new 52 Regal with the owner of the company onboard, but it was not an aft cabin model.

Whatever? What do you mean whatever? Why don't you post the links showing the statements I made.

You wouldn't have lied would you?

I mean the sort of lies someone might make when trying to steal the members of one forum over to another?

You pressing the alert button because I asked you a question about your boat?

Good God Menzies, my original posts had nothing to do with you, but you're trying to make this personal for some reason. Let's try this again.

Do I want to answer what Menzies, the question he asked about what other forum he posts on?

Are you going to answer the question I asked about your boat?

Nothing sinister, but I've never seen a set-up on a Silverton like you described.
Really? I'm surprised.

How many silverton set-ups have you seen?

I did? WOW The lies build up don't they. You know for a fact that I pressed the alert button?

Why would I have to do anything like that - you are clearly self destructing on your own.

You are bashing members while stealing readership to your own marina.

Nice.

Still not answering the question huh Menzies?

Why not just bow out of this conversation if you have nothing to add to it. We're talking about boats here.

Just to set the record straight my "whatever" was directed to KeithS who was explaining your role in developing the IPS system.

Actualy no. It's the new line of yachts being put out by Silverton. I don't see why an aft cabin boat is such a problem with having IPS drives. Putting the engines in a convertable under the cockpit sole wouldn't be that much different than under a raised aft cabin.

Dude, the fact that you don't know Ovation has me puzzled. Why didn't you simply do a Google before you responded.

I assumed you were talking about a Silverton since the thread asks about them, but I did not see this boat on their website.

I'm am not intimately familiar with the IPS, but it seems you would have the same problems installing them in a true aft cabin as would be the case with stern drives. Is the new Silverton a true aft cabin?
