Fuelish Toy

Our kids named our boat when they were four and two. Four year called it seaweed when we brought it home. His name started with a "c" so we put "c-weed" on it. Not thinking well that day. Now all the college kids on the island walk slow by our boat looking for someone they might want to talk to about some refreshments...oh well. What you do for your kids.

I work in an ER and named my boat the "Emergent Sea." Kind of liked it until every time I identified myself on the VHF I had to put a long pause between the words so it didn't seem like a distress call

Not many original names here. Lots of very common names like 'reel action' & the usual tasteless names like 'blow me' or 'master baiter'.

An original name cannot be thought up in a few minutes or found on a list. It will usually come from nowhere or be inspired from somewhere else.

Names derived from the owners occupation or name can be good. 'Evidence', owned by a lawyer. 'The Mixer' owned by a very social building contractor.

I agree with you 110% about the not many original names here and I diffidently agree with you about the usual tasteless names. I name all my boats after my wife. I just bought a 1926 28ft sport fisher that I'm restoring and her name will be change from riptide (That's what the previous owner name her) to Queen Tamarela (My wife name is Tamara).

I'm sure that this is mentioned probably more than once in this thread, but "Aquaholic" is far too common in my area. Every other radio check is from someone on the Aquaholic. Whoever thought of it first, neat name good for you! Whoever used it for the one millionth time, sorry you couldnt come up with something that isnt so worn out. I apologize in advance to the 500 registered users of the forum that named their boat "Aquaholic"... no need to respond with hate mail... I fully realize that YOU were original Aquaholic... of course you were...

It is also my goal to be the only person in the Tampa Bay area that doesn't have a "Salt Life" sticker on my truck or car. You have no idea how close I am to my goal... that company must have made a fortune!

"Under taker", now that MUST be a diveboat.

We have one around here named "Passing Gas". Two whopping huge outboards on the back. Appropriate for the boat.

I like boat names that make me smile. Seen on an expensive SF, "Grand finale 4". The 4 is a much smaller font.

Then there is "The Itch". Isn't that what a boat is to all of us?

when my kids were little we did mostly bottom fishing with them from a 24 ft deadrise skiff name "Croaker Choker".....it was replaced with a boat we called "Flounder Pounder".... we have always had multiple boats. my wifes name is Young. when the kids were in their teens we bought a Hatteras SF and named it "Young and the Restless"...a homage to the teen kids. When they moved on and graduated college we upgraded our sportfish and named it "Recovery Room"......not real original names but we have small minds.
