Finally just got our, new to us, boat registered. Took me a while to find her and years to convince my wife. Named her, "Persistence".

Our second boat. My son scraped together all his funds from birthdays, Christmas gifts, etc. to help pay for it.

S-Mio

A play on my boy's name, Emilio and his nickname when he was little, Mio,

As in Spanish, everything was his.

Growing up we had a small outboard which sat in a lot for quite a few years before we acquired it. Dad decided on: The Barnacle

My Dad, Vic, had a 25' MacGregor sailboat many years ago. He named it: Moby-Vic

I used to live in Kansas, City. A neighboor's wife was a secretary who had an obnoxious boss(owner of the company) who went over the line more than once. After winning a sexual harrasment lawsuit they bought large boat and named it: Harrass This

My wife and I now live in Grenada, West Indies. She is a professor at SGU. We bought a 21' Formula III outboard. The name on the boat when we bought it was: The Socialite.

That name did not suit us. We were coming up with names when our brother-in-law suggested: Give a Lecture(So when she was annoyed with students or colleagues she could say, "I have to go Give a Lecture". That was good but we enjoy the local brew. So we renamed it: Pop-A-Top

Other names we have seen down here that we like are:

Vitamin Sea
Cattitude(a 48' sailing catamaran)

I am a bit superstitious and believe in keeping the gods of the seas happy. While here in Grenada I bought a book called: Things I Wish I'D Known Before I Started Sailing by John Vigor. It focuses on sailing, but has many subjects which translate to any type of boating. One of which was 'Renaming a Boat'. This is considered tabboo in the sailing world. So he came up with a denaming ceremony after which you can go through a naming ceremony. If you are interested you can read about it on his website at:

Warm Rum Punch laced Caribbean vibes for all.

In-Laws had a neighbor down the street, had a go fast.

Named it "Date Rape"

Caught flak for it and renamed it "Grape Ape"
