So you're saying that when you hit the switch for the port tab down, there is no sound but when you hit it up it does run?

First thing I would do is disconnect the quick connect harness on the HPU and run a jumper wire straight from the battery all 4 of the leads in it to see if the pump works that way. If it does you know it's either the switch or wiring.

Was the switch bad or just a loose wire.

Hello, in the hydraulic box where the wiring harness goes in, you will see the two electrovalves, one with a green wire, one with a red wire, the red wire is usually for the port tab, have someone press the dash button and check you are getting voltage on that actuator, if you are then it´s probably the electrovalve, if you are not, it´s cabling related, check for continuity between the switch and the harness at the hydraulic motor end, if there is continuity, check the switch. Hope this helps.
