Default Seeking advise on prop selection and pitch

Hi guys,
Fairly new boat owner. Retired last year and bought a Ranger 250C with rebuilt 96 Mercury 200 EFI twins. These motors have a rpm range of 5000 to 5800. Boat came with Laser2 21p props running 49 mph and 5100 rpm. My goals are to be in the upper WOT rpm range, quicker planing, stay on plane at lower speeds and midrange fuel economy. I'm currently looking at Mirage Plus and Rev 4. I'm thinking maybe 17P on the Mirage Plus but not sure on the Rev4. I also considered the Enertia Eco but they carry a price premium and are harder to find used. Any help and advise on these props or others will be appreciated.

Default Prop selection

I have a Ranger 250c with twin 225 Mercury Optimax outboards. I am using the Mercury offshore props which are 4 blade props. My props are 17 inch pitch and 14 and 5/8 dia.I was using the Mercury vengence 3 blade props and switched to the 4 blade prop. The 4 blade props have a faster on plane time with a heavy offshore load of 6 men 300 pounds of ice 100 pounds of bait and and 270 gallons of gas. Also I can stay on plane at around 15 mph when the going gets rough which is most of the time where we fish south of Cameron ,LA. in the Gulf of Mexico. My criuse speed is 32 mph at 4000 rpms.We make a 180- 190 mile round trip on 110 to 120 gallons of gas. Hope this helps You, Ranger250

Thanks for the info. Just wondering what your WOT rpm and speed is. Hope you love your battlewagon as much as I love mine.

I have found that the true benefit of the Rev4 includes raising your engine as well. I would still say 17 pitch. I would say try Rev4, Mirage and Enertia. I suspect the ECO would be too much to swing for the 2.5liter 200hps.

I am not a fan of the Laser and Vengence props.

Thanks again captbone. I haven't had much luck with the lasers. I think I'm going to go with the Mirage Plus. They seem to be more plentiful in the used market.
