Default 28 Cary complete redo

Was half way temped not to do this but figure get get some input more then getting bashed. Always wanted to design/redesign a hull and waited for the right hull to come around and happen to be the 28 Cary doing a low cut gunnel in the rear and big dead box in the bow (basing the lines off the conch 27) planning on cutting the hull lines out at the mid gunnel height and dropping the floor height 3-4Ē and full flow to the transom instead of forward to aft draining (original floor plan) so here we go...

The gunnel sides were filled with paper and thickened resin on top

A patch job that was filled with more fairing puddy then fiberglass

New lines with a 4Ē drop in the transom and slight incline of 1-2Ē

Template to make both sides symmetrical

New bow line of a 1-2Ē drop

Cool! I was a little reluctant to post my build thread for fear of flaming too but have received nothing but support and good advice. Keep the pics coming!

Is this going to be an outboard boat? My 32' Cary had only a 1" thick transom, not enough strength for OB's. IMO.

Every time I see these build threads Iím astonished how much:

Skill, Patience, Time and Balls some of the people on this board have. 👍

I know Iím missing at least 3 of the 4 listed above.

Awesome!!
no one really bashes restore threads unless your doing an awful job and even then most people just bite their tongue and dont say anything negative, some try to help
Now if you keep getting great advice and keep going against it some people get angry about that

Plan on coring the transom with coosa but needed to get the hull lines right before the transom work starts. Donít want to waist materials when Iím cutting the height of the transom down

Was debating on cutting the whole line out or just a portion like this and glass the rest and make a little more flair towards the bow what do you guys think

Got some time in today more or less just making jigs for more bow flare but ended up cutting the gunnel line completely out to give it more appeal

Cool build. We have a 26 mold we pulled from and cut at the style line in the sides for a prototype bay boat Iím building. Next Iíll fill above that style line on the mold and build a higher gunnel open/ocean prototype. Definitely a great and proven hull to build from.

I herd nothing but good things about the ride one these. I just wanted to modify to my liking. I like the fact itís pretty beamy for a 28 not just some 2x4 in the water
