Default bulls bay vs sea chaser

Hi all, this is my first post here, I hope I am doing it right. Novice boater here. I am looking at a set of price point bay boats being the sea chaser 23lx ad the Bulls Bay 2200. Can anyone give me pros and cons of either one? They are for the Charlotte Harbor area for fishing and very little family boating. Dealership for the Bulls Bay would be Big Toys and dealership for the Sea Chaser would be The Boat House.

Thank You,
Matt

Welcome to the forum Matt. A couple of questions. Are they both new? What brand and HP outboard? What is the price difference?

I agree w/ JBS.
Carolina Composites builds the Bulls Bay from the old Sea Pro molds, they also make Pioneer & Avenger, their quality and support is top notch. I have their Bay Sport 220 and am thoroughly pleased with the craftsmanship and ride quality.

6-7 years ago I would have said that unequivocally. Sea Chaser of today is a much nicer boat than Sea Chaser of yesteryear. If you haven't crawled around on one of recent manufacture, find one to look over. The progress will be apparent. In this case the Sea Chaser he is looking at weighs substantially more. That will likely make a difference in ride quality.

I'd most assuredly want to know what they have for power and what the price difference is before I made a decision for him.

I used to have a 2018 BB 2200 and while not fancy it was well built and the customer support from Carolina Composites was phenomenal. The only major complaint I had was that wiring looked like an absolute mess (purchased the boat new). As mentioned above the hull is the old Sea Pro mold (that company went out of business and sold the molds, original owners have since re-started Sea Pro with new molds ). That hull has been around for a very long time and is well though of in many fishing circles. Happy to answer any specific questions related to my time in the boat.

Hi Paul, both are new. 150 Suzuki on bulls bay. 175 Suzuki on the sea chaser. Bulls bay is about 2k cheaper for all the same accessories. I suspect they are virtually the same Price with matched HP.

If all other options/features are equal I'd take the extra foot of length and the extra 25 HP for 2K without hesitation. Bulls Bay (Carolina Composites) is a fantastic company. If anyone wants to argue that it's a better boat, ask them when was the last time they looked at a Sea Chaser closely and specifically (not the vague fit and finish horse crap) how the Bulls Bay is better.

I spoke to one on the owners of the bulls bay at the Savannah Boat show. I think I owned my pioneer at that time as well. The Bulls Bay is built with all the Same materials and gel coat as the pioneer. The Only difference being the hardware and bolt on items. Those guys are top notch and stand behind there boats better than a lot of builders. I would buy it over a Carolina skiff sea chaser but again I just really like those guys and think they make quality products.

Hello there Henry. I apologize for misspelling your name. You probably engage so many people you lose track of it. I had a Cape Island. Last time we talked, you were thinking about getting one for yourself to striper fish if I recall correctly.

It's part and parcel of life that we regret selling things from time to time. My greatest regret in selling something is selling that Cape Island. Any idea if production will ever resume again on those?
