Default Shoxs Suspension Seating Review

I tried searching for info on shock mitigating seats when I was going to purchase some and never found any information. Figured I would post a short summary of my experience.

I've always wanted a bigger boat. Unfortunately, the Wife has mandated that the next boat is hers, and she prefers to wakeboard. I decided if I couldn't get a bigger boat, the least I could do was make my boat ride like it was bigger. About six months ago I purchased and installed four Shoxs 3200 seats with 8" travel pedestals. These are the same seats that are in most coastguard boats in the US.

Installation was easy. There is a bolt circle at the base of each seat, unfortunately, mounting hardware isn't included in the purchase. A drill, 5200 and two hours was all it took to install all four pedestals.

My first trip out was less than impressive. It was a fairly choppy day and I was excited to feel the shock mitigation. After being beat up for twenty minutes I was upset that I spent any money on these seats. That was until I finally shifted the wait from my feet and actually allowed my weight to be on my ass instead of my toes. The first wave we hit where I was actually sitting was an entirely new experience. I instantly had the biggest shit eating grin you could imagine. It took a bit of time to really trust the seats and keep my weight on my ass, but once I did, the ride was incredible.

All I can say after using them over the last six months is wow. I will never own another boat without shock mitigating seats.

Pros:
  • 8" of travel
  • Super easy installation
  • You don't have to use their seats if you prefer other seats
  • Their seats come with various attachments such as handles for your co-captain
Cons:
  • They weren't exactly cheap
  • Shipping took over four months
  • They are set up to sell to governments as opposed to consumers and it shows during the purchasing experience

Obligatory fish from the last trip out (today):
